Arturo Fuente Double Chateau

This is my first review, didn't take any pictures, but I can't post any yet anyways.

Arturo Fuente Double Chateau

Size/Shape: Toro (6.7 x 50)
Origin: Dominican Republic
Strength: Medium
Wrapper: Natural
Price Paid: $8.07

I purchased this cigar while I was in Florida. I was more or less new to cigar smoking before going down there, though I've had some in the past, but never owned multiple cigars (gifts, or bought and smoked the same day). I had a couple of A. Fuentes while I was in Florida and really enjoyed them, so I had bought a few more to take home with me (I didn't buy any doubles as I wanted to try a variety). This cigar comes wrapped in cedar.

There was definite tastes of cedar throughout the cigar, and it was the prominent taste that I picked up. At the 2/3 mark it started to get a little more flavourful, some minor hints of cocoa, and a more full and thick smoke. It had a little spiciness to it as well. The ash was very white and very strong. The light did go out once while I went inside to go to the bathroom and grab a water. I smoked it over about 2 hours. The draw was a little on the hard side, but not so bad that I passed out from smoking it.

Overall, I enjoyed the cigar, but I would not fight a nun to get another one.

7/10

Nice review Mike. I'm with you on not fighting a nun! I think the double chateau are pretty good. Nothing stands out and they arent a go-to stick for me by any meansi, but I find them consistent and non-offensive.

I didn't get this one there, but I bought a couple there (The small pantella Fuente and a Churchill Fuente, along with several others just mentioning the Fuentes). I got the one which I reviewed at Cigarz at Universal, though they were more expensive than at King Coronas.

Thanks, I'm glad it's not just me that thought this.

Glad to hear this. I bought a box of these off Monster. Haven't tried them, still resting. With the additional Revolution Card discout they were $70 including shipping. Figured it was worth having a box around at that price.

I picked up a 5'er last week and have yet to smoke one. I'll give them a few weeks rest then try one out.

I agree this is a nice solid smoke. Will buy these when they are priced well.

Re: Arturo Fuente Double Chateau

I use to love these cigars about 8 years ago and bought a box at least every other month. My tastes have changed a lot and don't smoke them anymore,,,maybe I should pick up a 5 pak and relive a memory.

Re: Arturo Fuente Double Chateau

This is one of the few cigars my local duty-free has, but somehow I still have yet to buy one. Seems the verdict's out on their value.

That's a good line!
Well-said, and I must add, that is how I have felt about every AF I have ever smoked. If gifted to me, I will smoke it....but I never feel compelled to chase one down. Diff strokes etc.
