Camacho Liberty 2008

Well, as promised I am delivering a review on this AMAZING cigar.

Brand:Camacho
Series: Liberty, Circa 2008
Wrapper: Barber Pole
Binder:Honduran
Filler:Honduran
Packaging: Single Coffin Box, individually numbered, cigar wrapped in tissue paper
Size: 11/18 Box Press
Body:
Medium bodied
Production: Limited to 2000, individually numbered humidor quality chests, with 40,000 individually numbered coffin boxes with cigars.

Construction:

Absolutely FLAWLESS, no flaws what so ever, very oily barber pole wrapped beauty. The bands are very flashy and beautiful, the cigar is in Camacho's wonderful 11/18 box press shape.

Pre-Light:

When examining the cigar and smelling the wrapper and foot all I could smell was ceder and a bit of sweetness. Pre-draw had a ton of coffee, spice, pepper, and ceder on the palette. The Draw was PERFECT, with just the right amount of resistance

I would note that this cigar has had a year to a year and a half and almost bordering on 2 years of age.

First third:

The cigar lit very easily with one match and a PERFECT burn line. In the beginning there wasn't a whole lot going on other then some light wood and ceder notes, mixed with very light pepper and spice. Exhaling through the nose proved to exhibit the aroma of ceder, and the cigar is probably the SMOOTHEST cigar EVER and tons of billowing creamy thick smoke.

The most interesting parts of the cigar started half-way through the 1st third, the previous notes of ceder, strong wood flavors, pepper, and spice continued, but with the added flavors of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and a strange yet pleasant sugary sweetness.

The above mentioned flavors continued, rising and falling like an orchestra into the 2nd third.

Second Third:

This is where it gets interesting, the wood flavors fall into the background and become very faint, where the previous flavors of Sugar,Cinnamon,Nutmeg, and even a bit of nuttiness continued to rise into a grand opus. Then, halfway into the second third it started to fall down and mix with all of the previous wood and ceder, and pepper flavors into an almost orgasmic sort of mixture that was constantly changing. All this continued into the transition to the last third.

Last Third:

The Cigar was burning a little uneven at this point so I touched it up with one match.

The flavors of the previous third came into a crescendo of epic proportions, then faded into the background while the cinnamon and nutmeg mixed with ceder and a bit of leather took the foreground in stride, and then finished lightly on the palette as I nubbed the cigar and burnt my fingers a bit in the process.

Conclusion:

Absolutely AMAZING cigar, I was a bit worried about spending 20 bucks on a cigar but after smoking this thing after a wonderful dinner I can say this is definitively, just about the best cigar I have EVER had. I really didn't think it would get any better than the Oliva Series V Double Toro I smoked but BOY WAS I WRONG.

This was an EXCELLENT cigar, well worth the price and I would love to purchase a box before these are all gone.

I would rate the Camacho Liberty 2008 an unheard of 95/100 I enjoyed this that much. I look forward to smoking the Camacho Corojo Ltd and Coyolar Puro within the week.

Oh man, don't wait any longer unless they JUST arrived into your humi. These are absolutely fantastic smokes, or at least it was in my experience. I swear I thought I had made a mistake by buying a 20 dollar stogie but MAN it was so delicious! I am so curious if anybody else got any of the same flavors I tasted throughout the smoke, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this cigar.

I mean, I thought I went crazy for a second when I was tasting all the different spices. I gotta say though, the cigar doesn't really WOW you until halfway into the 1st third, where it just teases you with what's to come, and then you get to that 2nd third and it's a freakin' magnum opus of a cigar. Also, what surprised me is that for a Camacho, it doesn't have a serious nicotine content like its brethren, and it is definitely so far one of the most impressive smokes that they have come up with(my opinions on the Coyolar Puro, Corojo LTD. are pending at the moment).

Re: Camacho Liberty 2008

Great review, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have a couple of these bad boys resting since last year, but have yet to fire one up. Soon I'll make up a special occasion and have one

I REALLY want to get a few '09s as well, but everywhere near me that sells them is sold out already

I scored a Liberty 11-18 today, the last one at my favorite B&M! This baby has been resting since 2008 and is # 20,147 of 30,000 - can't wait to try this one.
