Review: San Cristobal Supremo (Toro)

Cigar: San Cristobal Supremo (6x50 Toro)
Beverage: Water
Cutter: Xikar Xi2
Lighter: Ronson Butane Torch / Jet

Prelight - The band is beautiful, and made me wish I was at the beach. The wrapper was a flawless, beautiful, medium-dark brown with distinct, but not heavy, veins.

Light - Sweet Tobacco with sweet fruit undertones

First Quarter - Predominantly cherry like tobacco flavor, coupled with light pepper, and leather. Sweet spice, oak, and cedar undertones also present at times. The flavor reminded me of the wonderful smell my Uncle's pipe smoke.

Second Quarter - The complexity and flavor really got going here. I noted that the second quarter of this San Cristobal had complexity I don't usually taste until until the final third or quarter of other cigars. The cherry flavor remained, although at a lower level. The pepper flavor picked up to a moderate level, and was fairly constant as well. The oak and leather flavors also increased. I tasted quite a bit of sweet spices, pumpkin spice, and tobacco as well. Undertones of walnuts, and dark chocolate were also present at times.

Third Quarter- The pepper built to a moderately heavy intensity as I moved into the final third. Pepper, apricot, pumpkin spice, and sweet spices were the most constant and noticeable flavors. Tones of oak, cedar, leather, chocolate, sweet herbs, ginger, and cream soda were also present at various times and at varying intensities.

Final Quarter (I split this into quarters, because it was so good I literally smoked it to the nub - A true finger burner) - The high humidity outside made it's presence known by swelling the filler and causing the wrapper to crack as I started into the nub of this cigar. This was my favorite part of the cigar. The taste was dominated by intense pepper, and delicious sweet hot ginger flavors. A distinct, but mild, pumpkin spice like flavor was present with some frequency. Tones of walnut and oak also snook in at times. This was a wonderful finish to a great cigar.

Smoking time was a few minutes over two hours. Aside from the humidity attacking the wrapper the construction was flawless. The burn was also even and consistent. This was an excellent cigar in every respect.

I'm glad to hear that there are others who like these too, and that at least someone else has gotten similar tastes from them.
