Camacho Corojo Limited

This is just going to be a short little review, as I didn't particularly enjoy this cigar.

So, I decided to smoke this cigar last night in honor of finally receiving my copy of the Batman:Arkham ****** video game.

So, I pulled this cigar out of the humidor.

Brand:Camacho
Line: Corojo Limited
Size: 5 X50 Diploma
Wrapper: Authentic Honduran Corojo
Filler: Authentic Honduran Corojo
Binder: Authentic Honduran Corojo

Price paid: $2.20(10 dollars off for my birthday), regular price: $12.17

According to Camacho's own website and several retailers, the Camacho Corojo LTD. is rolled with the best of the Camacho Corojo crop(which is 1st generation authentic cuban seed corojo). Cool, but how does it taste? I have never had the original Corojo line but I've heard that the regular line is better.

Prelight:

Woohoo! What a stinky smelling cigar! The draw was easy enough and the flavors on the palette was that of pepper and lot's of spiciness, construction was good enough except for a small tear at the foot which was caused by removing the lower band.

First Third:

Lot's of spice, pepper, wood, and a very strange tobacco taste that I didn't like! Smoke was extremely thick, which was kind of nice, the cigar burn line was fine. Also, generally there was a lot of Corojo flavor...which I think might be the strange tobacco flavor I don't like.

Second Third:

Same as first third, but the tobacco taste got even worse, and then there was a crap ton of bitterness. That's just the begining, there was some extremely bitter and harshness going on as well as insanely terrible burn line that got worst as we got to the Final third.

Final Third:

Even more bitter, cigar keeps going out and the cigar itself has become extremely soft, burn line is officially screwed. At this point, I had to put this thing down.

Conclusion:

Disappointing. I So far I have not had a bad Camacho, except for this one! I just hope the Coyolar Puro doesn't let me down.

Reccomend: Try it if you can get it on the cheap, or love corojo, but if not perhaps stay away.

Try Again: No.

I hope this was just a bad stick, I like pretty much every Camacho, plus I have one of these in my humi.

Edit: Now that I've thought about it, is it possible it was too moist?? How much time did you have it in your humi before you smoked it??

I know the bitter flavor you speak of and find it in a lot of Camacho's

I agree with Jeff, how much time was it in there? Just out of curiosity, but then again Pat found the bitterness too.

A few days, but it seemed just fine... The Coyolar Puro didn't have any issues like this one, and the bitter flavor didn't happen until the final third in that particular cigar. However, I didn't particularly enjoy the Coyolar Puro either... The Coyolar Puro I had didn't seem as flavorful or powerful as most make it out to be, and seemed rather one note or no note at all. Very disappointing after having two fantastic smokes and having the rest be disappointing.

I think I might have to chalk this one and perhaps the Puro to bad/old sticks! Once I get some more money, I'll go ahead and order a few off of cigar.com or the devil site just to give these cigars a fair trial.

Re: Camacho Corojo Limited

Forgot to ask, did you try purging a little when you got that bitterness? I've been finding that a quick purge every-so-often really cuts the bite of a cigar. Especially towards the nub where stale smoke/moisture builds up.

Re: Camacho Corojo Limited

Yeah, I tried purging but all the purging in the world couldn't of saved this dog rocket...or the Coyolar Puro for that matter.

I think I shall toss this one up to bad stogies and give them another chance.
