Mini Review: CI Poor Boy Sampler

I bought one of these samplers a few weeks ago when they were on sale for $30 as Joe's Daily Deal. I thought y'all might be interested in a quick run down of each cigar. I'm not going to get into great details here, but simply sort the good from the bad. So here we go:

Calle Ocho Robusto (5" x 50) - Dog Rocket

Brocatus Churchill (7" x 50) - Actually a very tasty mild cigar

1876 Reserve Toro (6" x 50) - Another pretty good mild cigar

Free Cuba Robusto (5" x 50) - Dog Rocket

Joya Del Jefe Presidente (7" x 50) - Dog Rocket

Oro Cubano Churchill (7" x 50) - Not very good, but somewhat smokeable

Cremosa Cubana Churchill (7" x 50) - Decent

Don Elias Robusto (5" x 50) - Dog Rocket

Flor Del Todo Torpedo #3 (5" x 54) - Was a pretty good stick to me, but I like the regular Puros Indios. Flor Del Todo taste exactly like its description - a mixed filler version of Puros Indios.

Bucanero Torpedo (6" x 52) - Horrid

Vintage Reserva Torpedo (6.5" x 52) - the only one I've not yet smoked

Duque Torpedo (6" x 52) - Dog Rocket

Magellan Dominican Corona (5" x 42) - smokeable

Albion Robusto (5" x 50) - Dog Rocket

Puros Indios Viejo Corona (6.5" x 46) - Both that I got in this sampler were dog rockets. I was shocked because I like the standard PI, and I like the Flor Del Todo

Conclusion - Don't buy this sampler. If you like mild cigars then Brocatus is a great value, and 1876 Reserve is a good value. If you like Puros Indios then Flor Del Todo would be a good value. I can't recommend anything else in this sampler. I would rather have gotten 25 Brocatus for the same money, or 40 Flor Del Todo for $10 more. Overall, I can't complain too much. I got six good sticks out of the deal, learned not to buy a whole bunch of other cheapies that CI talks up, and learned that there are at least a few more really good values from CI.
