Casa Magna

I picked up 2 of these the other day. A robusto and a corona. I always try to get 2 of the same and normally screw this up somehow .

My buddy took the corona and we got 2 pints-o Guinness. I decided to try his plug cutter, I've never smoked this way before so what the heck.

The sticks looked great and the pre-light was nice and mild.

Lit up and was spicy for the 1st 1/3. Not as harsh as I had expected. It was hard to get a good draw after the first third so I hit it with the plunger again and got some smoke. At that point I was tired of drawing so hard and just cut the thing. This created clouds of luscious smoke and the corona got cut too... lol.

Holy cow, after that it was so beautiful in the middle. My buddy said "it taste's like a baked potato".... At the end of the middle third I needed to remove the band, that started to peel the wrapper.

So the last third was not so good ... the wrapper was peeling and I was telling so many lies that I let it go out. Relight was nasty.. as they usually are for me. I purged and tried it for a while and just decided to call it quits.

The ash was near perfect for me.

I think that if I acted like I knew how to smoke the thing it would have been great.

Re: Casa Magna

Smoked one of these on Monday night. It was a pleasure to smoke up in till about 1/3 to go. This is when it started to turn off and I also finally gave up. It was great up till then. I didn't use a plug cutter. Has a ton of smoke.

I've always wanted to try one. My local b&m's don't carry it and I'm not looking to get a 5pack on the websites. One of these days.....

Re: Casa Magna

My "most" local B&M has them, but not the 5 Vegas series ..... the one down the road is the other way around....

I don't understand if there is a certain vendor these places use that only carry's certain brands or what...

Re: Casa Magna

I've now smoked every vitola of the 2008 release. Still, the only one that really interests me is the Pikito. I'm wary of the '09's. I say this because the Pikito taught me that the best thing about this cigar was the wrapper. It seems theyve changed the wrapper for '09, so... I'm wary.

Re: Casa Magna

IMO, the 2009 release is every bit as good as the 2008. I have a box of the robustos and I am definitely going to get another when this one is gone.

Cigary, love the signature.
