5 vegas gold
Guys here is my weekly review. As always let me know what you think.
Cigar- 5 Vegas Gold Series Cutter- Mean Sardine Lighter- Jet Lite Drink- Lemon Water Pre Light- The cigar lives up to it's name, it is a beautiful gold color that is smooth to the touch. The cigar seems well constructed, no soft spots or loose areas. The pre light draw is easy with the taste of pure tobacco. Initial Light- A small blast of pepper hits the back of my throat on the initial light. The draw is very easy with no restriction at all. There is a finish of spiced wood on the exhale. The cigar is not as mild as I expected. 1st Third- About a half inch in the pepper has subsided and the smoke has become sort of creamy with a long cedar finish. I am an inch in and the burn has been perfect so far. There is a nice nutty flavor that is coming through. The cigar is even more creamy now. The cedar finish is still there with a hint of some spice (maybe nutmeg). At an inch and a half it lost the ash. The nutty flavor is the predominant flavor now. This thing produces more smoke than any cigar I've smoked. As I move toward the 2nd third there is a small bit of the spicyness returning. 2nd Third- In a couple draws, the spicyness subsides and it is back to the nutty flavors. Another half inch in and the cigar has really mellowed out. The smoke is smooth on the palet and the nuttiness is now the only flavor that I can taste, it is a little salty on the finish which compliments the nuttiness nicely. Around four inches in and the flavor changes slightly. The hint of spicyness is back, but the finish has a nutmeg taste to it. The finish last all the way until the next draw. Final Third- The cigar gets a little hot as I get into the last third, It may be me as I have puffing a lttle faster that normal. I slowed down and the cigar settled out fine. The nuttiness has reappeared, but only as side note. At this point the cigar has a lot of complexity to it. There are lots of flavors in it but I can't even begin to describe them all (underdevoped pallet) Final Stretch- With around an inch left the cigar regains it's spiciness. The smoke is still bellowing out of these things, and as before it has regained it's nuttiness. With about 3/4ths of an inch left the cigar gets hot again with a little bit of harshness. At a half inch It is really bitter and I had to lay it down. Overall- This was a very good cigar. I was suprised with it's complexity. This cigar gives new meaning to mild strength and full bodied. I normally smoke much stronger cigars, but I would def. try this again. It would make a great middle of the day cigar with a cup of coffee. I will revisit this cigar. Hope you enjoyed the review. As always let me know what you think. |

Re: 5 vegas gold
My current favorite cigar. Not too complex but what is there is great, and that silky smooth smoke is awesome. Your review really nailed it down.

Re: 5 vegas gold
It's a good cigar, my go-to mild and stick that I give to nonsmoker friends. I also appreciate the nutty character to the flavor. Good review!

Re: 5 vegas gold
Excellent review! I must admit I've been away for a while (training with the USAF) and haven't seen your other reviews. Great job though! Makes me wanna try one out. If you haven't had one yet, I suggest a 5 Vegas Classic Five Fifty. Real smooth, more on the mellow side, a great morning, or first cigar of the day. The box press is not a square as others, but is enough to give it a nice burn, and a different type of flavor than others. I am a box press nut though, so what do I know lol! Keep up the reviews and I will be keeping an eye out for them. Thanks again!

Re: 5 vegas gold
Very nice review. I really like these in the torpedo variety. My only complain with them is sometimes the draw seems just too easy!

Re: 5 vegas gold
I'm humbled by the thanks I get for the service, its my pleasure, however all I ask for in return is for everyone to do their part and vote, especially in these times! ( I think everyone knows what I'm talking about, especially in these times of high taxes and such) Enough with the soap box Rants
![]() I have tried those, in fact I have about 4 left in the humi that have been resting for about 9 months, maybe its time to revisit them? If you like the Box Press, I suggest any of the CAO box press cigars, Italia, Brazilia, or MX2. Hope everyone enjoys their Long Weekend with good smokes, spirits and Family! |

Re: 5 vegas gold
Yeah I tend to agree with you there, the draw was very easy. Most of the time that bothers me, but with this cigar it never even crossed my mind. Think I had too many good things to concentrate on.

Re: 5 vegas gold
Thanks for the review. The Golds are definitely a good cigar. I've had a couple of boxes and have not been dissatisfied. Although, I did not find the continued spiciness you referred to. I prefer the non-spicy variety. Maybe a difference in storage? I did get some spiciness at the beginning, but it didn't last long.

Re: 5 vegas gold
Great review, I have 2 left out of a 5er and while I like the Classic better this is a great mild cigar.
