Fuente Short Story Review

Cut/Punch- Punched

Drink: Diet Coke

Lighter- Ronson Jet Lite (Damn fine for the price)

First impression:

This is definitely an interesting looking cigar. It has a little weight to it for the size and the construction on this one is quite nice.

Pre draw light: After punching this little beauty, I took a few draws before lighting it. I have to say, it was a soft and somewhat sweet tobacco flavor that gave me a great feeling about the upcoming light.

This cigar started off quite nicely, although a bit tight on the draw. I definitely expected a tight draw at first due to the shape of the cigar and stayed with it until it opened up with a couple long draws.

The first nuances I noticed about this cigar included some woodsy and very light earthy tones. Copius amounts of smoke rolled off my tongue as I noticed some of the underlying sweetness I sensed during my pre-draw puffs. At this point the cigar has gone from some light earthy tones to some pronounced leather and cedar notes. This cigars seems to be on the medium side to me and the finish does not feel to be extremely long. This vitola isn't as complex as some others out there but it definitely sets itself apart from some other one trick ponies out there.

After enjoying this beautiful burning goodness for a little while, I decide to exhale through my nose to see what other subtle flavors I can find but I am met with a harsh surprise. This little warrior does not seem to like to exit through my nose. It was a bit too harsh for me to get a good read from, likely because I was thrown back a bit as I was not expecting that.

About half-way in, the flavor of this cigar seems to have rescinded back to it's original taste, which is not a bad thing. I am getting more of the subtle sweetness and some smooth earth again. This time the earthy tones are more pronounced but are not harsh at all. One thing I can say for this cigar is that the ash is both beautiful and almost perfect and it also does not wish to part away. The flavor stayed this way until I nubbed it.

All in all, I enjoyed this cigar and it was not quite complex but not quite simple either. This was consistently good the entire way and burned among the top cigars I have smoked. It is nice to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy a cigar, or in this case a Short Story, without having to bother with touch ups.

This was my first review ever so I hope it was acceptable.

Thanks for reading!!

It was pretty good. One thing that I wasn't expecting was the nicotine kick. I don't smoke but 2 or 3 cigars a week so it could just be me but it did kind of kick my butt a bit haha.

I have yet to try one, I live in California and the tobacco taxes are murder. I may someday fork over 10 bucks for one but not anytime soon. I hear they are a great smoke.

Great first review! I look forward to reading some future ones. This is a great stick. It's been awhile since I smoked one so I might have to look for some sales.

Thank you very much kind sir!! I am shooting for maybe one Friday and another Saturday if I can. I still have a ton of cigars I haven't tried yet so the possibilities are endless!

Yeah, I paid $6.50 for that one. If Bxcarracer can find em' for $5, I say GROUP BUY hahaha

Thanks for the review. You did a great job!

I smoked one the other day. Overall it didn't impress me. So far I have yet to smoke a Fuente that has impressed me.
