Perdomo Fresh-rolled torpedo review
Perdomo Fresh-rolled Torpedo (6.5 x 52)
Well, that was interesting. Without a doubt the messiest cigar I've encountered. I've only had these for two weeks, but they look so good I had to try one. 1st 3rd: Surprisingly mild start, very smooth with just a touch of spice. Great draw with lots of smoke, burning fine so far. I've never has a Rosado wrapper before, and I'm not sure how to describe the flavor but it's all good. I really don't care at all how a cigar's ash holds up, but I've already managed to miss the ashtray. This is very loose. 2nd 3rd: The pepper kicked up a notch, and the body is now solidly medium, pushing to full. Some burn issues developed that required a couple touch-ups, but I'm still getting tons of smoke and great tobacco flavor. The wrapper is very oily to the touch, and by the half way point, the oil built up at the burn line and a slightly bitter taste developed. After a very impressive flaming torch purge, things mellowed out again. Heading into the final 3rd, I took a good draw and got some flying sparks and more ash in the lap. A good sized cavity was the culprit, but I was enjoying this too much to lay it down. I got it re-lit, and wished I had a camera handy at this point. What a mess. The only way to smoke this without ash (some still burning) landing on me was to draw a couple inches over the ashtray. I cleared the cavity, gave it one more purge for good measure, and enjoyed things down to the nub. Despite the wrestling match with this cigar, I really did enjoy it. The mild start developed into a great tasting, full bodied smoke, with plenty of spice that built up as it went. I suppose these really do get better with a few months of age on them, but I'm sure I'll fire up another soon enough. I got 10 of these on cigarbid for $18. Cheap, tasty, and highly recommended if you don't mind working a little. Cheers, Chris |

Just my $.02,
Do NOT age them! Otherwise, not a bad smoke! |
