Montecristo Media Noche
Here is this weeks review guys. As alway I welcome your comments.
Cigar- Montecristo Media Noche Edmundo (5x55) Cutter- Mean Sardine Lighter- Jet Lite Drink- Coke Zero Pre Light- The cigar is heavy in the hand. It has a dark wrapper with a nice sheen to it. The smell is very sweet but a lil bit of spice hits the inside of the nose when smelling. There are no veins to speak of. First impression is very good Initial Light- The first draw is great. Not sure of how to describe the flavor. I think the best way to describe would be naturally flavorfull. It taste like something I just can't place it. Maybe nutmeg is what I'm looking for. 1st third- The draw on this cigar is perfect. Just enough resistance to make u know it's a cigar, not enough to make you work too hard. About a half inch in and the nutmeg is still there, but not near as strong. There is a wonderful richness to the smoke of this cigar. The finish lingers a long time with subtle hints of cedar. There is a slight hint of spice lingering on the back of my throat. At an inch the flavor profile begins to change. There is some hints of coffee, chocolate, and cinnamon. The finish remains cedary with just a hint of nutmeg. As I approach the 2nd third the cigar is getting a little stronger. The burn is beginning to become a lil off, but nothing to worry with yet. The ash is still going strong. 2nd Third- As soon as I took the next puff, I lost the ash. The coffee is def the most dominant flavor now. The chocolate is still there but has taken a back seat for a moment. Around halfway through the draw becomes a little tighter, and the stick went out. I relit and gave it a good long purge. Hoping that it would not affect the quality of this stick. The cigar picked up right where it was without a hint of harshness. The nutmeg is back. Approaching the final third this thing is really picking up steam. I am beginning to get the lump in my throat feeling. Final Third- I may sound like a mad man saying this, but along with the nutmeg there is a flavor that I can only describe as pumpkin. Maybe it is the sweetness of the maduro paired with the nutmeg that creates the taste, but for some reason it is there. The pumpkin flavor fades as quick as it came. The coffee is there again with the nutmeg still on the finish. The coffee lasts for the next several puffs, with the hint of chocolate fading in and out occasionally. The lump in the throat is a little bigger now. As I approach the final stretch the cigar begins to get a little hot. Final Stretch- The stick finishes with a flurry of full flavored goodness. It is toasty, chocolatey, and full of coffee flavor. The nutmeg is still there just to make it interesting. There is a lil spice sneaking in again now. On the final couple puffs the cedar sneaks back in as the major flavor. Overall- I was very impressed with this stick. I was a little suprised by the flavors as I didn't get a lot of the tradionial maduro profiles. Thanks to Jeff (commonsenseman) for this wonderful smoke. The only negatives I can give to the stick is the cigar going out once, and the price point. I do not know if I would give nine bucks for it (and that's at box price, don't know what MSRP would be) but it was a dang good, satisfying smoke. What are your thoughts? |

Re: Montecristo Media Noche
I'm looking forward to trying one of these but I can't pull the trigger at the current prices. $7-8 is usually the max I can afford right now. I will splurge from time to time. Maybe I'll splurge on this one day. Thanks for the review.

Anyway great review man, you nailed it! I agree they're a little on the spendy side, but ocassionally you can get them for cheap on cbid. I think I paid $7 each, which is still a little more than I would have liked to pay.

Re: Montecristo Media Noche
Nice review. Sounds interesting, I may have to try one soon. They are priced a bit out of my budget.
Thanks

Re: Montecristo Media Noche
This sounds awesome! Try a Montecristo Afrique if you find em! I only find them on JR, and they're a good smoke. This Media Noche is gaining rank of my list of smokes to try!! Thanks for the review T-Dub!
