A. Fernandez Signature Series Robusto Review

From The MFG:

Finally, after years of crafting top-shelf handmades for the likes of Rocky Patel, Gurkha, and Padilla, in addition to several small-batch lovelies like Man O’ War and La Herencia Cubana, AJ ’Abdel’ Fernandez has created a cigar of his own. A. Fernandez captures the unrivaled pride and passion of Abdel, a man mentored by Cuban legend ’Don’ Alejandro Robaina for over a decade. Like the rest of his cigars, Abdel farmed, fermented, aged, and rolled each tobacco leaf in true Cuban tradition. The A. Fernandez employs a dark and oily Habano wrapper from Ecuador with a bold mixture of Honduran and Nicaraguan long-leaf, Cuban-seed ligeros. The smoke is medium to full-bodied and chock full of rich, heady flavors. Expect sweet spices and leather to smack the palate, leaving behind a velvety array of earth tones and a unique sweetness – almost like port – on the finish. Deep, complex, and satisfying....the A. Fernandez is a fine handmade.
Size - 5x50
Price - $5.00
Wrapper - Ecuador Habano

Dark oily Habano wrapper with minimal veining and nicely applied cap. The band is simple, attractive and not overdone. Slight barnyard smell. Draw is good and smoke volume is very good. Flavor is primarily wood and leather with a touch of spice. The robusto has more pronounced flavor and better smoke volume than the toro. The finish is long with heavy wood and leather notes. There is a touch of sweetness to it as well. While there is some spice, its subtle and in the background. The spice doesn’t compare to a DPG. Not as strong as the DPG Black, but not mild either.

Wrapper is a bit fragile and can crack. Aroma has a woody like scent. Pleasant but nothing extraordinary.

Burn is good with a solid white ash. This is a medium-full bodied medium strength cigar. A good complement to DPG Cuban Classic

Look and Feel - 9
Flavor and Aroma - 9
Burn - 8.5
Overall - 8.8

Sorry no pictures.
