For anyone reading this that is wondering what happend to #'s 4 and 5, they are in the Habanos review section.
Gifted Review #6 Bolivar Old Blend Dominican
The third Bolivar that I am reviewing in this series is the only Dominican of the three and is an old blend corona that is 5 and ¾ inches by a 43 RG. There is an immediate noticeable difference in the outer appearance of this cigar compared to the 2 ISOM’s that I previously reviewed. The outer wrapper is much darker in color with veins that are more pronounced creating a slightly rougher appearance than the others. The feel is slightly oily and firm to the touch but soft at the same time. There is a light smell of nuts, vanilla and cedar with some sweet undertones creating mild aroma. I will punch and light this one with a torch.
On the light I was greeted with a tremendous amount of spice that overpowered everything else for the first inch and a half of the cigar. To be honest I almost put this one down but decided to wait and give it a chance. There were good tones of leather and nuts but the spiciness was overpowering all of it. The spice did mellow out after about 15 minutes and did make it easier to taste the rest of the flavors but picked back up again in the end of the stick giving it the finish that I would expect. There were some great flavors in here once the spice mellowed out and I would like to try another one of these to see if the blend is any different as I would like to taste more of the flavors that are happening underneath the spice. I have not smoked one of these before so I don’t have anything to compare it to from another line but I did enjoy the flavors that I was able to grab when the spice died down a bit.
Thank you for this one Hollywood.
