Review - El Rico Habano

/*================================================= =================*/
/*========================== CIGAR_REVIEW ==========================*/
/*================================================= =================*/
DATE: 2006/05/26
REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper
CIGAR: El Rico Habano
SIZE: 4.75 X 48
ORIGIN: Honduran
WRAPPER: Ecuadoran
BINDER: Nicaraguan
FILLER: Nicaraguan
SHAPE: Robusto
AGE: Unknown
VENDOR: Gifted by Mr MaDuroo (Thanks again!)
AMBIENCE: 8PM on a Friday evening. Sort of hot with a bit of
humidity.
BEVERAGE: Coffee
APPEARANCE: Light brown veiny wrapper, almost oily. (Reminds me
of a darker version of the AVO #2 wrapper) A well
constructed heavy cigar.
PRE_LIGHT: Very sweet grassy pre-draw, nice smell to it.
DRAW: Perfect resistance; a bit surprising since it was a
weighty stick and I thought it might be a harder draw.
FIRST_THIRD: I note that the band came off very easily, which is good.
(Hate bands that need a jack-hammer to remove)
Initially this tasted very sweet and grassy.
SECOND_THIRD: Sweetness dissapated a bit and was replaced by a woody
flavor. Very nice blend of flavors.
FINAL_THIRD: Got stronger at the end; glad I was sitting down. <G>
Stayed relatively with the same flavor profile through-
out. I enjoyed this quite a bit; and used a toothpick
to nub it.
BURN: Pretty durn even burn here.
ASH: Very white ash with a yellow center. Firm with
no flaking.
SMOKE: This stick put off *lots* of billowy sweet tasting smoke.
STRENGTH: Medium strong to rather strong.
FLAVOUR: A sort of grassy-sweet taste with a bit of woodiness.
FINISH: The sweet after-taste was very pleasant, and lingered
even through a small bowl of ice cream afterwards.
SMOKE_TIME: 50 minutes.
IMPRESSION: I try not to read other reviews of sticks I am in the
process of reviewing, so as to not develop any pre-
conceptions. This was a bit strong for a morning or
casual quick-smoke during the day; but I could quite
easily fit this in to my regular stock.
RATING: 8 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks.
COMMENTS: If I could describe this in terms of another cigar,
it was like a stronger version of the GPECC Epicure.
This might have to go on my "Box Purchase Short List".

Strong like the nat wrapper, ALT? I bought nats based on (good) storekeeper advice and very uncharacteristically passed up a handful of heavily plumed maddies in next cab.
