My review of Rocky Patel Signature Series

I purchased a box of these over 3 months ago. I believe but I may be wrong they only come in 2 sizes.
I purchased a box of lanceros. 7.00 x 38.
They have been resting for three months at an rh which varieted between 63 and 64 rh.
This cigar was smoked outside on a cool day with a slight breeze.
I took the cigar out of my caddy to examine. First thing I noticed was almost a flawless wrapper. Uniform in color, shade, degree of firmness. A very limited amount of tiny veins. A very well constructed cigar.

I looked at the foot, and it was finished great, with a sharp cut, and no loose threads of tobacco.
The cap was also beautifully finished. Almost transparent to the rest of the cigar.

I cut the head with a guilloting cutter. Nice sharp cut. I took the flame to toast, and it was a beautiful toast.
The tobacco at the foot, just seemed to gradually get warmer, and turn into something that was lit.
I think it was the most beautiful a cigar has ever lit for me. No wrapper burning or charring. Just lit tobacco.
I knew from previous R. P.s that I would no longer need the lighter for this cigar.
I brought the cigar to my lips to take a puff, and what I got was delightfull. A very easy draw(but not loose) and tons of smoke coming out the head. The foot looked almost unlit, but I knew the thing was going good.
It was an almost exciteing moment.

A few more great puffs, and I found lots of smoke, which was mild to medium, very cool, and with lots of flavor.
I could taste cedar, leather, and maybee almonds or pistachios.

The cigar continued to burn perfectly. A little quicker because of its width.

About the hafl way point(20 minutes) the flavors intensified a bit, adding sweetness to the mix. Something like dr. pepper soda. but just a touch.
Towards the last third, started to get increading amounts of mint. A great smoke.
The ash which was a greyish brown, fell off after about every inch or so, but didnt matter. The smoke stay cool and flavorfull, and I dont think there was every more then an eighth of an inch difference in the wraper burn, if that.

All in all, it was a beautifull smoke.

Like I always do with an unfamiliar smoke, I stopped it with about 2 inches to take apart and examine it.
It was rolled so good, it was at first to find a place to peel the wrapper. It was blended so well, I had to actually make a cut with my fingernail to finds it.
There wasnt much wrapper on it, but it was even and beautiful. The binder, seemed to be slightly thicker, but just a continuation of the wrapper.
The binder was nice long filler, cut to make it more a perfect rectangular concentric cigar.
What a beautiful job. Even the remainder of the burned tobacco, had no burn smell to it, more like butter and nuts toasted.

I cant remember what I paid for it, but it was on cbid, and I probably got them for 2 to 3 dollars.

Definately for me, a class A smoke, that I would be proud to give to a friend, irregardless of its small ring.
It doesnt know its small, and has a big cigar taste.
I will be scanning some sights, to lay some more in, I was so impressed.
3 months ageing seems like all they need. No improvement needed.

9 out of 10 stars.

Much regards Jerry

Re: My review of Rocky Patel Signature Series

Tried a few and they weren't my favorite. Tried the lancero with coffee this week and it was excellent. The coffee really brought out the flavor.

Re: My review of Rocky Patel Signature Series

A perfect review.

The Toro size has quickly become one of my favorite mild cigars. I got a box from C-Bid about 3 months ago as well for just over $2/stick. Incredible value.

I highly recommend for anyone who wants to try a very nice flavor on a milder stick.

Afraid I paired one of these with my favorite bourbon....was not a good match!

Still learning!

Yes, not the type of cigar that would go with a strong or for that matter spirits. A beer maybee, but definately a coffee, or hard cider.
I dont drink with my cigars(except water), so I am not a good person to pair, but I do know this cigar does not stand up to other intense flavors, unless coffee.

Re: My review of Rocky Patel Signature Series

I have one humidor that has nothing but RP cigars. 90,92, Sungrown, Fusion, Missle Maduro and The Edge. Jerry, have you ever smoked the "seconds" as far as the 90 or 92 Vintages are concerned? I started smoking them about 2 years ago and can't tell the difference between them and the primary cigars. I save a ton and get them on the Devil Site for about $25-$30 per bundle.

BTW,,,had one of the Rosario Cigars last night,,,,mmmmmmm good.
