La Aroma de Cuba *Ned Pepin Blend NOT EE*

La Aroma de Cuba by Ashton Belicoso
Price: $7.50 @ Tinderbox

Drink: Diet Pepsi
Appearance: Nice dark wrapper, slightly veiny
Cut: Straight cut with Xi1
Prelight Aroma: Light earthy scent
Prelight Draw: Slightly Spicey with strong earthy flavor

Size: 5.5" x 52
Wrapper: Dark Connecticut Broadleaf (Maduro?)
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

Starts out with a burst of spice with a slight grassy finish.
The grassiness quickly fades and it begins to taste like a LADC EE

About 1/3 through is very spicy, with sweetness and hints of cocoa and burnt coffee.

About halfway through the spice is still kicking, and cocoa is still there. There doesnt seem to be much depth to this cigar.

Im just below the band and still spicy (typical Pepin) getting some leather with the cocoa.. a very nice balance

Just took off the band, not much change in the flavor profile but hey I'm not going to complain!

Flavor didn't change much till the nub..

My final thoughts on this cigar is it was a typical Pepin cigar. Lots of spice and definately full body.
I love the cocoa and coffee flavor throughout. It produced lots of smoke without any problem.
Also it burned nice and even throughout without any touchups. The ash it produced was a nice solid light gray ash.
Another definate plus is the cigar stayed firm and never got spongy.. this is one of the best constructed cigars I've smoked.
Definately a box worthy purchase!

Thanks for the review. Earlier today I was trying to decide between one of each size or a box purchase. You might have swayed me to the full box.

I noticed there is a price increase with the new blend too. Now in line with DPGs other sticks.

Re: La Aroma de Cuba *Ned Pepin Blend NOT EE*

I didn't go for the box but I did pick up two churchills.

These are quite a bit lighter than some of Pepin's other products. The spice didn't seem too strong at all but was noticeable. A big improvement over the previous La Aroma de Cuba cigars. These are definitely worth picking up.

I pick up 3 to try the other day. First one was pretty tasty for the price rang. I still have some of the originals and enjoyed those as well

Re: La Aroma de Cuba *Ned Pepin Blend NOT EE*

Great review. I really liked the reblending of this brand too. Definite improvement IMHO. I tried a fiver of the Belicoso and was impressed enough to pick up a box of the Belicoso and Robustos when Holts ran their recent free shipping deal on this brand.
