Brickhouse by Cuesta Rey

Brickhouse by Cuesta Rey
Price: $5.90 @ Tinderbox

Drink: Diet Pepsi
Appearance: A chocolatey dark wrapper with some thick veins
Cut: Straight cut with Xikar Xi1
Prelight Aroma: A nice light cedar scent
Prelight Draw: Perfect resistance with a very earthy flavor

Size: 6.0" x 52 Toro
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Havana Subido
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

Starting out with a nice medium spice to it with lots of body and a strong earth flavor.
I would compare this very closely to a Tatuaje Havana VI.

About 30% in the spice fades a little and subsides to more of a sweet finish but the flavor is still predominantly earthy goodness.
It is very delicious, like creamy spicy goodness. I'm really digging this cigar.

Hitting the halfway point and the flavor really hasnt changed but still wonderful flavor.
Slightly into the halfway point starting to pick up notes of cocoa... nommmmmmmmmmm

Just took the band off and the spice is starting to kick back in, lots of cocoa and little sweetness.

Getting close to the nub, its starting to burn real hot giving a hot grassy flavor with spice. Not much nub appeal but I'll keep trucking through.

Overall this is a good cigar. It was very well constructed and burned evenly.
As it met its fate it gave away to a grayish ash that wasnt solid but wasn't flakey.
Each puff produce a generous amount of smoke and it never got spongy which is always a plus.
I am kind of disappointed on how the flavor didn't finish as strong as it started but was pretty consistant till almost the end.
Not sure if its a box purchase but definately a cheaper alternative to pricier Tatuaje Havana VI's if you like that flavor profile.

I've had two of these so far, and really enjoy them. Will definitely have to look into getting a box of these.

Re: Brickhouse by Cuesta Rey

Nice review - I've only smoked one of the two I bought last week and I think you got it right. I didn't get that "knock my socks off" reaction like I did with the Tat but this is a good smoke & nice price!
