Rocky Patel Fusion Double Maduro

It's a couple days late, but I guess better late than never.

Cigar- Rock Patel Fusion Double Maduro Pantela (7x3
Cutter- Mean Sardine
Lighter- Ronson Jet Lite
Drink- Coke Zero

Pre Light- The cigar has a very dark maduro wrapper. It it very toothy with a few medium size veins. The smell is very sweet tobacco, with just a little of the barn yard smell on the foot. The pre light draw is average.

Initial Light- The small ring gauge makes this a snap to light. The initial flavor is that of bitter cocoa, with what I like to call the "traditional maduro finish," bitter sweet tobacco.

1st third- The flavors stay the same as the initial ones for around a half inch. At this point there is a hint of oak, kinda remnds me of the finish I get on a nice bourbon. The nose exhale is very smooth with not a lot of added flavor. The draw is a little tighter than I like, and the burn is about a quarter inch off. Approaching the inch and a half mark the cigar is kinda dull. There is still a hint of the oak, but nothing else is there. At around the two inch mark, the oak fades and there is a spicy sweetness that comes out. Approaching the 2nd third the sweetness stays but the spiceness is getting a lil stronger

2nd Third- The begining second third produces more of the same. Little sweet, little spice, and a little bit of an oaky (is that a word) finish. About half through the stick the strenght picks up but the flavor is still pretty boring. Approaching the final third and what can i say.... BORING

Final Third- The final third starts with a lil more spice, but not much else changes. I get bored with this thing and lay er down early.

This is where I would usually put the final stretch but not today.

Overall- So far I have been bored by most RP sticks. maybe my tastes. Maybe his blends are too comple for my pallet. I really like most of the Indain Tabac lines, so I dont know what the deal is.

I know I am gonna take a beating over this one, so let me have it. LOL

Lol I doubt you'll take a beating, it's exactly how I feel about these. They're decent, but nothing to write home about. Sorry you didn't like it!

Haven't had the Fusion, but I love every other RP I have had. To each his own, Brother. Nice review!

Good job on the review.

We all have different tastes, (for example I don't like the Tabac - just not for me).

Reviews are the honest opinion of the reviewer - which you gave.

Great review and I must say I agree with you. RP just doesn't do it for me either. Too how do you say BLAH. Best RP I have had was the vintage 1990 and even that wasn't spectacular. So no worries your not alone!

Re: Rocky Patel Fusion Double Maduro

Nothing like the OWR, the OWR (maduro i'm assuming) is a much better cigar and it uses better tobacco. you can taste the difference.

I agree with your review, did not find anything particularly good or bad about this smoke.
