La Aurora - 100 Anos - Lancero
Tonight's fireside cigar is the La Aurora 100 Anos Lancero. I picked up a pair of these last Wednesday from Tobacco World in Marietta, GA.
![]() This is a rustic looking lancero with a splotchy Colorado wrapper. The bumps from filler and binder can be seen through the wrapper. ![]() ![]() The cigar smells barnyard sweet of hay and tobacco. If the cigar burns anything like the way it smells, this is going to be a treat. A quick clip and test of the draw shows this is an easy drawing Lancero, another plus! Quick toasting of the foot produces a sweet rich tobacoo aroma that brings a smile to my face. What started with great promise dips a little in the first few draws. The cigar feels a little flat, like it wants to open up with some great flavor but does not. Hopefully this will change a little longer into the smoke. The cigar is starting to canoe a bit. I'm going to let it go and see if the burn corrects itself. ![]() ![]() The burn corrected itself. I dropped the ash early on this at less than half an inch. This cigar still feels like it wants to open up, but has not yet. It still feels a little flat or hollow in terms of flavor delivery. The cigar starts to open up about two inches into the smoke. It's taking on some grassy notes, reminiscent of a fresh rolled cigar. It's burning straighter. The sweet hay I picked up on the pre-light scent is starting to shine through in the flavor profile. There is a little bitter harshness to the cigar every once in awhile that detracts from it's better qualities. ![]() The cigar was far from smelling of ammonia, but everything about this smoke tells me it needs more time to mature. Might be a better smoke in a year or two. At the halfway point and that harshness is still lingering. The flavors are good, but the harshness still detracts. The burn has gone ragged again, but not a big deal. ![]() ![]() The cigar didn't change much in the last half. Gonna sacrifice this one to the fire gods with an inch left. It's getting tedious/boring to smoke. ![]()

Re: La Aurora - 100 Anos - Lancero
Ji, you hit it head on. The 100 Anos really shine after a year or two of rest. I absolutely love them after that time. I am very depressed that they are going away.
The Lancero is one I have been looking for but none of the local shops have them yet.

Thanks Mark, it's becoming my favorite place to enjoy a cigar these days.

Re: La Aurora - 100 Anos - Lancero
Very nice review and pic's Ji!
I remember trying them when they originally were released, I smoked a couple robusto's and that they were very good. Wish the B&M I bought them from had carried the Lancero.
