Tatuaje Drac While I'm smoking Review!

I decided to do this review as I am smoking so I will start off with the prelight and initial thoughts, then come back for the first third, second, and final third.

Pairing with: Water with a little lemon to keep the palate clean, and the original Friday the 13th!

Precut: Wrapper is dark with some veins throughout, and free of flaws. Feels pretty well packed, but not super hard, and there is a somewhat soft spot in the middle, which hopefully won't cause any problems. The smell reminds me of spice, and coco, theres also something else there I can't put my finger on.

Pre draw, is not tight, but doesn't seem loose either. Again some spice on the palate, and that other flavor I can't quite put my finger on. Hopefully it hits me while I'm smoking.

Initial Light: Great smooth draw, with lots of smoke. A woodsy taste with hints of coco and spice. A little lighter bodied than I had expected but I have a feeling both the spice and body will pick up in a little while.

Burn line is a little wavy, but I did notice a slight soft spot at the foot as well. Hopefully it will correct itself in a little bit. Just as I was typing that I noticed it did start to even out, the burn line is very thin and is producing a very white ash.

Be back at the end of the first third!

Re: Tatuaje Drac While I'm smoking Review!

Im quickly approaching the second third of the Drac, so I figured I'd give an update.

So far the draw is great, effortless and produces a lot of light and creamy smoke. The flavors are that of Coffee, spice, though not a lot, and woody notes. Theres also a bit of minty flavor in there some times. All in all the flavor profile is very enjoyable

My main concern with this one so far though is the burn. It has been wavy and required a few touch ups. Nothing drastic, but still enough to notice. Now I realize that this could be because the cigar is so new, hasn't sat in a humidor for probably very long ect. I do want to make the point though that even with the burn issues I still think this is a really good cigar so far. I think with some age on these, they could really be an amazing cigar.

The wrapper is holding together well no unraveling, and the ash is holding on pretty tight. My wife came out to see how I was enjoying it, ( she helped buy the box for me for our anniversary) and commented on how the smoke smelled pretty good. She then took a puff and said she liked the taste a lot too.

Overall, at this stage Im enjoying the cigar very much, but would like to see a better burn. When Im finished Im going to go squeeze a few others in the box to see if they are all packed a little of the looser side, or if its just this one.

Be back in a third!

only comment I have besides nice grab is about the burn might be because these just shipped to B&Ms and might be a lil moist still.

Re: Tatuaje Drac While I'm smoking Review!

And down to the final third!

I agree that the cigar is probably a lil moist and thats whats causing the burn issues. I really think this is gonna be a great cigar with some age on it.

Well the second third was really good. The burn issues became less and less while the spice picked up a little and some toasty meaty flavors came into play. I was sitting here smoking and watching Friday the 13th and thought how good this cigar would pair with a good dark beer, or scotch, after a big steak dinner with a baked potato.

I still think this is a med bodied cigar, which surprises me, but its definitely not lacking in any complexity department. So far I haven't noticed any nicotine buzz, which this is where I really start to notice it, if there is one, in a cigar.

I think this is a great fall/ night time cigar, but had to get it out of the way earlier today, since I'm going to a costume party tonight, and will be drinking, and wouldn't have the time or concentration to really enjoy it. This cigar reminds me of fall flavors and spice. I'll be nubbing it out and posting final thoughts in a bit.

I see that you managed to get your hands on some Drac today. I am sad I missed out on the event, a little hungover.

Re: Tatuaje Drac While I'm smoking Review!

To the nub and final thoughts

This cigar stayed on point all the way to the end! Great flavors that all seemed to marry into just a wonderful taste that consisted of spice, meaty and woodsy flavors. With some time in a seasoned humidor I think this has some serious potential. Slight nicotine buzz at the end and a little bit of tar build up thats normal with torpedo shaped cigars, but a little cut of the end fixed that.

Burn stayed pretty straight towards the end as well.

If you got your hands on a box, I'd say try one now just for the heck of it, but if you only were able to pick up a few, let them rest, if you can resist! I think they will do much better. I haven't tried many other cigars by Pete so I can't really compare them to anything else, I just know it was a really flavorful cigar that was pretty complex.

Hope everyone enjoyed the review, and has a safe, fun Halloween!

P.s As for the pics they came out really blurry, I have a piece of tobacco (go figure) stuck in between my lens, and when it goes in for close ups it gets all out of whack....

Re: Tatuaje Drac While I'm smoking Review!

Thanks for the review. I just sparked up a drac that I had in my humi for a week. The draw is a little tight but the flavors are just as you described.

Re: Tatuaje Drac While I'm smoking Review!

I just finished one and all I can say is I'm glad I made the trip early this am and was lucky enough to snag a box. Pretty much as ndimarco described. I vary rarely nub a smoke but this baby was flavorful throughout. The rest will come out of the coffin and go into my vino for some resting time as i believe they will get even better. No I didn't take pictures cause I was to busy enjoying the smoke and watching the game. I must say i was skeptical with all of the hype but these fit my taste to a t...

Re: Tatuaje Drac While I'm smoking Review!

Smoking one of these now, pretty tasty, spicier to me than you described though. Still a very good cigar, worth putting a few down for the future. Great review!

I got a picture of mine though:

OOPS wrong one!

Here it is:

Seriously though great cigar & great review!
