I had an opportunity to watch some football this weekend and enjoy a glass of Bulleit Bourbon and a LFD DL-452 Maduro
The Cigar: An LDF DL-452 Double Ligero Maduro While searching for short cigars in preparation for colder weather, I found a maduro from LFD that I had never tried. Down went $5.75 for a short Double Ligero Maduro. The cigar was firm with nice dark brown color and one small vein that ran the length of the stick. A touch of the tongue produced a multi-spice flavor with strong hints of pepper. No denying this cigar will hold its own against any beverage. The pre-light draw was firm, but pleasant and an easy light with a stick match produced a nice glowing foot. Every draw for the first quarter inch was heavy with pepper notes has the flavors developed. The first third was a spicy mix of heat and pepper with pleasant volumes of white smoke and a layered gray-white ash with minimal flaking. As I progressed through the middle third, I sharpened a stick match in preparation for nubing this one. Meanwhile, the pepper sensation relaxed to a background flavor while it remained prominent at the back of the throat. Toward the end, the cigar reasserted its spicy pepper beginings and slow draws were rewarded with nose tingling smoke and palate pleasing taste begging to be flushed with either good bourbon or a cold beer. There was less than an inch left when Mother Nature made it too cool to sit and relax, but I have a feeling that if I’m in the mood for quick “give-me-your-all-and-I-won’t-bite-back" cigar while grilling some steaks in Winter, I’ll be putting one of bullets in my humi. This one is a pleasant surprise and a keeper. |

Re: An LFD And A Bulleit
Nice Review. Haven't tried any of this brand - guess another one goes on the list.
