My Attempt to Review the Tatuaje Drac

I ended up smoking my first Drac on Halloween so I decided that I would try to put up my second review on Puff. The Drac had been sitting in my humidor for about 9 days at 65% RH before I smoked it.

Drink: Water
Other Activity: Listening to music and taking pictures

Prelight: There was this nice woodsy and coco taste to the prelight draw. The draw was a little tight but that was my fault due to me not cutting enough of the cap off. I ended up cutting more of the cap after the 1st third and it fixed the problem.

1st Third: My first impression of the drac was that it is a medium body smoke. The dominating flavor to me was the coco. The Coco was enhanced by some light mint, spice and woodsy aromas. Although the burn was great, I was disappointed in the flavor. Maybe it was all the hype but I was expecting a richer flavor profile.

2nd Third: The flavor started to grow as the smoke progressed. The Coco flavor still dominated, but the mint and spice flavors started to grow a little. I have to admit that during this part of the cigar I was smoking a bit slower because I was attempting to take some interesting photos of the cigar. Maybe my slower smoking allowed for more of the flavor to come out. The burn during this part of the cigar was great again, I never had to relight no matter how distracted I got.

Last Third: As I have mentioned the dominating flavor to me was the coco aroma, which I really did enjoy. In the last leg of the cigar the mint and spice flavors didn't really progress from the 2/3rds mark. I did go into this cigar expecting more spice and flavor complexity but it was still an enjoyable cigar. I ended up smoking the cigar to a nub and never encountered a burn problem. Like others have said maybe the cigar just needs some age. The cigar lasted me just under 2 hours. I would rate the cigar that I smoked at 7/10.

Thanks for the review Alex, pretty close to my experience, I got a little more spice though.

Great job!

Ditto. I scored a pair, but it seems like I'm better off smoking them after the winter. Thanks for the review!

Everybody is talking about a mint taste but I never picked it up. Guess I need to smoke another one, but I want them to rest awhile first.

Re: My Attempt to Review the Tatuaje Drac

The mint taste wasn't very strong, it was just little hints. At the 2/3rd mark it was a little better but it still wasn't strong. That is why I was kind of disappointed with the flavor profile. Would I buy them again? Maybe, $13 is a little pricey but it is not a bad smoke. I will judge again after some age.

Re: My Attempt to Review the Tatuaje Drac

I wish someone around where I live had some of these but my best efforts have turned up zilch. Perhaps next year I may get lucky. I did find a place that sells Opus X but I got there 1 week too late. On the brighter side, the will have Anejo's so if I can time it right I will finally get to try one of those as well.

I was excited in my searches for Dracs I did find an Oliva V Maduro so that is a positive.

Great pics and nice descriptive review!!

Re: My Attempt to Review the Tatuaje Drac

Thanks, I hope I get my box of Oliva V Maduros soon from Thompson so I can post up a review too. I am going to try and let my Dracs and Boris sit for some time before I write another review. Maybe 3-4 months down the line.
