Hoyo De Monterrey Double Maduro Rothschild Review

Well here is a stick that I haven't heard too much talk about but I really enjoy. For the price ($3.88 a stick at my b&m) it is definately a must buy, and I always have at least 2 or 3 in my humi at all times. It is a cigar that I have yet to get a bad one of, and is something I can go to any day with any weather conditions and its right on. So without further delay, let me move on to my review.

Pre-Light: Not a hard spot on the cigar, wrapper was in superb condition and I
could tell this was going to be a good one right away. The pre-light
draw had hints of chocolate and was very earthy. The draw was
perfect before I even lit it.

Lighting: This cigar was very oily (not in a bad way) and was very easy to
light. For those of you who like cigars that give alot of smoke,
this one is definately for you.

Smoking: This thing was burning like a laser all the way through and I
almost got the ash to stay throughout as well....one ash isnt bad
though. Generally the hdm rothschild is medium to full bodied
throughout the entire cigar, but it really picks up in the second
half. The first half remains very earthy, but ones you
towards the bottom the spice picks up like crazy and it definately
tantalizes the taste buds.


My Thoughts: This cigar has been a go to since I began smoking and is a
must try for everyone. This stick is relatively inexpensive,
and a perfect size for a quick 45 min smoke or so. Some
people like massive cigars, but if your running a little low on
time and want something quick but not too short...grab a few
of these babies...I couldn't give them any higher praise.

I love this cigar. The Punch version is virtually the same stick with a different band. In fact, I heard they're rolled on the same tables. These are great smokes and the super premium 2nds from CI/Cbid are almost just as good. Best bang for your buck, IMO.

Without a doubt, if it says Punch or HDM, it gets my support. I have yet to have a bad one.. My himidor always has at least 1 box of one or the other.
