Thumbs up CAO Mx2 Robusto - Newbie review

So my fiance picks this one out for me while we're browsing the walk-in humidor at the store. She liked the way it looked. So I went ahead and bought it along with some others. It did look yummy BTW.

Got it home and couldn't wait to smoke it, managed to wait two whole days.

Here goes my very first review ever:

Smoke: CAO Mx2 Robusto
Purchase Price: $5.39

Drink: Guinness
Entertainment: The History Channel's 'The Revolution'

Looks: Deep dark wrapper with a slightly oily sheen. Looking at it made my mouth water.
Initital Smell: Yummy, just yummy.

Lighting: Lit fairly well with my definately unpolished toasting methods. A little slower than I'm used to, I think because of the double wrapper.

Initial impressions, first third: Spicy but with a nice flavor. Almost like having an espresso with some cayenne sprinkled in it.

Second third: Turned a bit creamier, spicyness mellowed some. Definately some rich flavor in this one.

Final third: Smoked it down to a 2 finger numb. Last third was a woody flavor with hints of nuttiness. Still a little spice.

Overall: My new favorite (our of the big whopping dozen different smokes I've had). The Guinness complemented it perfectly.

How's that for my first review?

That's a nice review. I like the CAO CX2 but had never tried the MX2. Sounds like it's right up my alley. It's now on the list.

Great review. Keep 'em coming. Those Mx2s are hard to comeby and I've heard they were good. If you like them, get some more before they're gone.

Damn right they are hard to come by. I have placed 5 packs in the last 3 orders I have placed at different online stores that listed them as 'in-stock' and all three times, I receive my order minus the MX2's. Talk about a tease..

The local B&M doesn't have any CAO either..

Thanks for the review. I would agree that it pairs extremely will with a Guiness (or other stout beer). If you enjoyed this, I would also consider trying another great CAO maduro...the Brazilia. I personally like the Brazilia line better.

I didn't realize that the MX2 was hard to find. A local that I go to has them almost all of the time.

Brazilia is one of my favorites. I'm glad I sent one to you last week! I wasn't sure which sticks you were into.

Re: CAO Mx2 Robusto - Newbie review

I loved th MX2 also, but would agree that they can be hard to come by. If you can get ahold of em, try buying 15 or more, and leave at least 10 in your humi for over 6 months. After they age, the MX2's have the same flavors, but they all get richer, yet smoother, and it's almost like a whole different cigar, yet the same...

Re: CAO Mx2 Robusto - Newbie review

Good review and right on the money. The Mx2 is one of my favorite smokes and they are hard to come by - and when you do come by them, the price has been going up steadily. I used to land them for $6/ea. at the local B&M and now they're $8/ea. and they are very difficult to land online because the price is usually better. I like the Mx2 much better than the Cx2 actually and age does help them quite a bit.

God, I just realized that I only have 3 left. I'd better get busy.

Re: CAO Mx2 Robusto - Newbie review

Nice Review. I like both the MX2 and the Brazilia that others have mentioned. They are very different IMO and both have some very good aspects to them. It depends on my mood as to what I would reach for. I am generally pleased with all of the C.A.O. lines minus the flavored cigars.

Welcome to CS, btw.

Re: CAO Mx2 Robusto - Newbie review

A very nice review! Now, I'll need to give a few of the Mx2 sticks a try.

I am a big fan of most of the CAO line of cigars, with the Brazilia Line being my favorite.

This price is for the Belicoso.

Nice review...I have just started doing a little research on this smoke, have seen a couple reviews, and ordered a few to try, should have them by Thursday. Can't wait! I'll post back with my thoughts post-puff.
