My Father Le Bijou 1922 REVIEW

A little history:

In 2009 Don Pepin Garcia released the My Father Le Bijou 1922 in honor of his father.

The My Father Le Bijou uses a Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro wrapper from Pelo de Oro (Golden Hair) leaf. Pelo de Oro tobacco is seldom grown now because it is very difficult to grow.

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Shape: Churchill
Size: 7 X 50
Draw: First 2/3 has a little resistance. Last 1/3 was perfect.
Burn: Excellent
Construction: Superb

The first 1/3 offered a nice blast of spice, followed by cocoa and coffee flavors.

The second 1/3 had a light sweetness to it with some cocoa.

The last 1/3 was nutty with a hit of spice and cedar.

I smoked one of these when they were first released and I was not too impressed at the time. Bit now, the more I smoke them, the more I love them!

Overall, this is an excellent full-bodied, rich, complex cigar.

Re: My Father Le Bijou 1922 REVIEW

I have a few recently purchased from my favorite B&M. I have really been enjoying the My Father line and have purchased one or two of all of the vitolas available to me, but have yet to smoke the Le Bijou 1922. I suspect from your review that I will really enjoy it. How long do you suggest sitting on it? I have found that the rest of the line smokes great straight from the store, but I suppose some age will help as these are meaty even though I think they are very accessible cigars.

What a great line the My Fathers are overall.

Re: My Father Le Bijou 1922 REVIEW

i just bought one from my local B&M on Sunday but it has been sitting in my box. I am waiting to refine my palate some more before i smoke it. I don't want to be disappointed on my first full bodied cigar experience.

Re: My Father Le Bijou 1922 REVIEW

I bought two of these Le Bijou 1922 Petite Robusto's a week ago and sparked one up yesterday.

This thing was a little firecracker. At first it was like I had snorted a line of pepper through a straw - but in a good way! The spice and pepper in this thing never ended. It did ease up just a bit and leathery notes picked up. Great combination. This cigar DEMANDED attention. There was no getting away from it. I felt I was in a fight with the cigar, and the cigar was winning. Again, all this is in a very, very good way.

This cigar is now on my top 5 list of non Cuban cigars.

Re: My Father Le Bijou 1922 REVIEW

I found it to be one of the closest in resemblance to a full bodied CC of any of the NCC's I've ever tried. I love them!
