Review - Royal Jamaica Gold Churchill
DATE: 2006/06/02
REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper CIGAR: Royal Jamaica Gold SIZE: 7.0 X 54 ORIGIN: Nicaraguan WRAPPER: Nicaraguan BINDER: Jamaican (?) FILLER: Nic, Hon SHAPE: Churchill AGE: In my humidor since 2006/04/23 VENDOR: Gifted by Pegleg (Thanks again!) PRICE: No information, but current retail about $5.40 each. AMBIENCE: 5PM Friday evening, warm humid and still. Enjoyable weather for a quiet cigar BEVERAGE: Coffee - black. APPEARANCE: Very light weight stick. Smooth non-oily wrapper that looked good. Was in a nice gold foil sleeve also. PRE_LIGHT: Sort of a grassy taste, lacking in any of the more "oily" tastes. DRAW: Extremely easy draw. FIRST_THIRD: Wrapper tasted almost metallic. I guess I've been smoking too many maduro's lately, but this just didn't taste so good. SECOND_THIRD: Finally the too-metallic wrapper taste diminished a bit, and it turned into a fair, grassy-tasting smoke. FINAL_THIRD: Turn for the worse again, and started tasting bitter, with a hint of burned coffee almost. BURN: Canoed a bit, but evened out fairly well. ASH: Mottled grey *very* flakey ash. Not enjoyable to have ash floating all over. SMOKE: Lots of smoke, but it wasn't all that tasty except for the middle part of the stick. STRENGTH: Pretty mild. FLAVOUR: Grass and straw, what little of it was good. FINISH: Metallic aftertaste, which in good Texas tradition, I got rid of with root beer and jalapeno potato chips. SMOKE_TIME: 40 minutes IMPRESSION: I left more than two inches unsmoked on this stick, and wasn't very impressed. Could have been a bad stick of course, but I probably won't buy any to give another try. RATING: 4 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks. COMMENTS: If the Por Larranga is a good example of how a light colored wrapper can taste, this was definitely a poor example of the same. Re: Review - Royal Jamaica Gold Churchill
I really enjoyed the Royal Jamaica Parklane that I smoked. I don't know if the shape makes that much of a difference or not. I'm sorry that you had a bad smoke
