Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Review

Picked up a fist full of these bad boys today at my local, and i felt inclined to do a little mini review. I'm not the best at verbalizing what i taste in cigars, so bear with me.

First i must say that this stick has the weight and feel of a Padron 1926 Maduro. Its wrapper is DRIPPING with those oils BOTL's crave. the construction is very very impressive. again, PAM 1926-esque.
Its got a seductive dark chocolate smell that tickles your nostriles.

I lit it up with almost no effort, and the burn was perfect, literally razor edge straight throughout the entire smoke.

Now on to the flavor. This is where i get caught...I cant really put my finger on what the first quarter was like. It was a very dark tobaccoey, oily taste. And leather, definitely leather. very flavorful, and packed a good wallop. again, very PAM-esque.

And the next 50% of the stick laid on even more strength, and brought along that same dark chocalte taste. I swear i was sucking on a brick of dark chocolate. Still burning perfect, and still producing copius amounts of smoke.
AND, still reminding me of a PAM...

The final quarter just exploded with an extreme amount of full bodied flavor, rich thick smoke, and an aroma that makes your spine tingle.
I had to pull out the roach clip for this one. never got hot either due to it being packed together so tightly.

I didnt want to put it down, but after an hour and a half, i guess i had to.
Guys who chew on the tips of their cigars will definitely love this stick. chocolatey goodness. I personally just hold the tip with my teeth and occasionally get the juices. yum.

If there were ever an alternative to a PAM 1926, this is it i think. overall a great smoke.

Well worth the 12.50 retail.
Out of 100, i give it a 93. Patels best i reckon.
Heres a crappy pic i took right before my battery died.

Nice review. Until now, I have heard nothing about these. Thought I kept up with things better than that ... guess I'm starting to slip in my old age. Really like the RP Vintage lines. Gotta try this one.

Nice review, thank you for sharing. I have never seen any of these locally, but if I do am going to pick one up. I have 3 different PAMs that are waiting to be smoked as well. I need to get to one of those!

Re: Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve

I had a sample of one of those gifted by one of Rocky Patel's reps when they was first putting the blend together, prior to their first production run, almost a year ago...couldn't agree more with your review...you describe it exactly as it was to me and I loved it...I'm glad they're finally on the market...gotta go grab a handful of those...this cigar is gonna be a hit and is RP's best cigar by far...

Thanks for the review. I had not heard of the Olde World Reserve until I saw clampdown's post last night. If this is the best RP then it's pretty darn good! Looking forward to giving them a try.

Re: Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve

Ever since i dropped the nub in the ashtray last night i've been thinking about smoking another!
I the get same feeling after smoking a, you guessed it, PAM 1926.....But of course self control must be exercised with those, so one doesnt end up in the poor house.

AAAAAHAAAAAAAA! BUT THESE! BOTLS, rejoice! for we hath finally found the (not too)Low budget alternative to one of the most talked about cigars around.
Indeed rejoice! for i speaketh the truth! And ye will see that i speak the truth after yeez B&M stocks these..................................

ah screw it, i'm smoking another!

Thumbs up Re: Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve

Rocky was in Dallas this last week to launch the Olde World line. I stopped by to see him and try out these sticks. As already proclaimed by our fellow BOTL, these things are great! They come in 3 sizes (Robusto 51/2 x 54, Torpedo 5 x 54, and Toro 6 1/2 x 52). The Robusto and Torpedo were both $11.50 and the Toro was $13.50. I got one of each to try out.

The first taste I got was a bit spicy with the first draws, but that was quickly replaced by a rich mix of vanilla and cocoa. These are definite some of Rocky's best sticks and I am going to have more in the near future. If you like the vintage line, then you are going ot go nuts over these.

Thanks for the review. RP makes some good smoke but nothing worth over $5, imo.

Thanks for the review.

I might take a chance on one of these sticks.

Re: Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve

I see that they come in boxes of 50 for $472.50. I just paid $270 for a box of 25 Jose Seijas Siganture 2000 after deciding that it's my favorite NC for the moment.

By comparison, the Rocky's don't seem all that expensive........I guess!
