Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Toro Maduro Review

I piceked up a couple RP Old World Reserves yesterday. It is about 6 by 50 pox pressed and beautifully packaged with a leather look paper at the foot.

The construction was good. The burn was slow but a little uneven. Though I did light it right in the shop. It could probabbly settle a bit. The draw was firm but not tight.

Upon first light, it seemed to have an earthy mind of taste. It was very nice. I would call it medium bodied. It strengthend a bit near the finish, but never got harsh. I was not blown away by the cigar, but I did enjoy it a lot. I think it could benefit from a few months in the humidor.

I guess this is an attempt by Rocky exclusive cigar to compete with other super premiums like the Padron 1964 & 1926 or the Chateau Fuente. All in all I would call it a very good smoke with not major flaws.

It is worthy of the $10.50 price? I will just say there are other cigars in his lines for less that half the price that are just as good or better than this in my opinion. But then again, I like the $3 Padron 3000 better than the Anniversario Series and the Chateau Fuente Sun Grown better than the Opus X.

I have one that I picked up last week and I am looking forward to firing it up. Maybe this weekend. I have had a few 26's and 64's and just wasnt that impressed. They look great, but I was expecting more after paying what I did for them.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I have yet to try a cigar from this line, but from what I have heard they are not that impressive. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I just don't see RP being able make a cigar as good as Padron 26/64. I will try one when I come across a deal, or have a few bucks to burn. I am not a big RP fan in general though.

Fired one up on Father's Day. Good cigar. Liked the flavor. Worth the $$$??? If I'm going to buy an overpriced cigar, I think I'd rather have a CAO Soprano. And that flimsy tissue paper wrapper around the foot ... what a pain!

Nevertheless, I did like the cigar and I'm glad i still have a couple left. I may keep a few on hand but will probably never buy a box. Btw, I think I heard that these only come in boxes of 50. For that kind of money you can buy aged Cohiba's.
