Noob Post #2 - JOYA DE NICARAGUA ANTANO

2 cigar night. I was rewarded with this one. With all the stress in my life right now, I figured I would cut loose.

I loved this cigar...

JOYA DE NICARAGUA ANTANO -- i believe they call this their 'Machito'

Length - 4.75
Ring - 42
Origin - Nicaragua

Pre Smoke - I don't know, it just smells good.

Overview:
This is a STRONG cigar. STRONG is an understatement. I didn't think I was going to be able to pull it off, but I did. I smoked this SOB until my fingers and lips were burning. Very spicy...when you get through the first 3rd of the stogie, you will be rewarded with some great nut, cinnamon and citrus flavors. The cigar starts out strong, and mellows out.

1st couple of inches - Strong and Spicy. You get the occasional nut flavors, but the first half inch or so was pretty harsh. Very Spicy.

Mid Cigar - OMG! The cigar just explodes into a mixture of nuts and spice. Still almost overpowering strong, but I like that.

Finish - SOB this thing was good. The finish started off with a creamy cinnamon type taste and ended with a citrus flavor. I swear I tasted lemons. The finish was nice and mellow compared to the rest of the stick.

Construction - Outstanding. No Problems. Draw was PERFECT! They feel a bit loose, but no complaints.

A LOT of smoke with this Cigar. Couldn't tell the color of the smoke (dark outside), but there was A LOT of it.

I really like this cigar, I think I am gonna pick a few more up tommorow...

Another nice review. The JDNA doesn't disappoint if you want a teeth-rattling smoke. Don't let the diminutive size fool you, big smoke.

Re: Noob Post #2 - JOYA DE NICARAGUA ANTANO

Just had my second, and last, one yesterday. My first I almost got sick. For the second, made sure I smoked it after a big meal. Even with the meal, my stomach still started sending me warning signs and I had to put it down.

Like the flavor, don't like the strength.

I bought a box of the Belicoso size and LOVE them! The full bodied taste is a real treat.

Like the flavor, don't like the strength.
If you like the flavor but not the strength I'd recommend giving the Celebracion a try. It's a softer kick in the pads.

I have been keeping my eyes out for the belicoso. I have heard great things about 'em.

Thanks for the review!

Colored smoke! Now that would be cool.

Nice review. I love the JdN Antano. I always keep a few around when I need a kick in the seat of the pants.

I've got one sitting in the Humi, I'm waiting t'il the sore throat finally passes by and when I've just had a nice full supper. Sounds like a smoke not to be had on an empty stomach.

Re: Noob Post #2 - JOYA DE NICARAGUA ANTANO

Definitely not to be had on an empty stomach but I must admit I like them. I've had two now and neither time got really lambasted like the write-ups say but I will agree it has strength. I'm a light-weight too so it makes me think I may smoke too much not to be impacted the way some of you are. I smoke at MOST one cigar a night but that cycle doesn't last long before I have to skip a night or three. That said... I like the review. I'm going to look for some of those nuance tastes on my next one.
