My First Review - K. Hansotia Signature 101 Blend

K. Hansotia Signature 101 Blend Robusto 6.0” x 50
MSRP = $14.00
Price = $3.20 (devil site)

This stick is made with Honduran, Dominican, and Jamaican long-fillers with a Costa Rican maduro wrapper. Wrapper was smooth with small veins and somewhat oily. No tooth. Firm construction with no apparent wrapper problems. Pre-light aroma was mainly barnyard with a bit of sweet. Pre-light draw was good. Burn aroma was lightly floral.

In the first 1/3 of this stick I tasted mostly earth, something I couldn’t pinpoint, and some coffee. It was a very unique flavor I haven’t experienced with any other smoke. Thoroughly enjoyable. The taste changed mid way through to a toasted nutty flavor and changing again during the last 1/3 to creamy chocolate and spice. Hints of leather throughout but definitely not as much as other maduros I’ve smoked. It picked up in strength toward the end but was smooth to the nub.

Burn was a bit uneven and the wrapper seems thick. The first one I smoked had to be relit 2x and burned unevenly all the way down. Ash was flaky and white and held for 2-3 fingers. I had a small finger in the 2nd one that self-corrected and I didn’t have to touch it up at all. I think burn problems could be prevalent with this stick but that wouldn’t stop me from smoking these again. A very enjoyable tasty medium-bodied smoke.

Look and Feel = 85
Flavor and Aroma = 90
Burn = 75
Overall Score = 83.3

Thanks for the review. I have been curious about these and will have to pick up a few. The only K Hansotias I've had thus far are the triple ligeros which are very tasty, but not as strong as the name implies.

Yep, that's the exact reason I picked these up. I enjoyed the Triple Ligeros as well so I said wth I'll give them a shot. Glad I did.

I agree the X3's weren't as strong as I expected; great flavor though.

Pitdog:
A very good review; I agree with it comp[letely. I have several of these but have only smoked one. They have been sitting in my humi for over 6 months now, and will probably be much better than the first one I smoked; which wasn't bad.
Btw, there was a thread devoted to the triple X ligero a coupla months ago; it was participated in by several members, and you will probably be interested in what was discussed. I like the triple X myself but, it isn't what the name promises, but what it is, is very good.

Be careful!

I like most of K Hans blends. Good economical smokes made by Torano. Yumm.
