Ok, I'm not really the type to do a review, and really don't think i'm qualified to do any yet, But I figured I'd post WARNING Review for all you Newbies like Me looking through your Thompson's catalog.
I'll be short and to the point. Thompson's Paso Double... NASTY NASTY...Stinks like and tastes like Moldy Hay...4 weeks in Humidor does not help.Presudomundo.. Nice looking, Stinks like shoe leather,Harsh Hot acid taste Belomundo... No taste at all La Paloma..Looks nice, smells ok ...tastes like crap. Rancho Dominicano... Not bad really, mild, not a lot of flavor OVER PRICED! The moral here,... Don't be fooled by the catalog hype Thompsons are over priced and taste like crap for the most part If your a newbie like me, looking for "Afordable" smokes. go to the sites that are recomended around here ... Try the JR Alternatives, or the Famous 1000 line, or any other Budget brand from these folks But Don't be fooled by Thompsons. Like I said, I aint' the review type, just my humble opinion and a warning to the newbies like myself. Sorry If i offended any Gorillas with this bare bones review.

Re: Some Thompson's I have had
yeah, i steer clear of the Thompson's house brands myself. I had a gifted "Don Elias" or something arather Torpedo a few weeks ago. The catalog said "Rolled in the Cuban Style" -- This thing looked like it was rolled by a two year old...plus the wrapper was of poor quality and looked like it had sticks and twigs embedded in it. It burned really fast too.
I tried a Thompsons Amoroso a few days ago and it was actually pretty good though. Nice Flavor...Just required multiple burn corrections which was iritating. |

Re: Some Thompson's I have had
First post for me.
I bought the Thompson Iguana about 1 1/2 years ago. It was so bad that I gave most of them away. I didn't find anyone that liked them. Two weeks ago I noticed that I still had 2 left and decided to give them another try. After 1 1/2 years in the humi they improved from 1 - 10 scale of a 2 to a low 5. I'm sorry to read about the La Paloma since I have a box of La Paloma Reserve maduro in the mail as I write this. Along with the La Paloma's I also have some Don Tomas maduro maduro's, the bundle of free cigars that come with the La Paloma's, the 3 bundles that come with their Millionaire humidor and a 10 cigar sampler that includes Diablo, Partega Black, Cohiba and a couple others. They say they will take back anything I don't like, if I only smoke two out of each bundle, so I guess I'll see how good their return policy is. |
