Thumbs up Rocky Patel Edge Corojo Size Review

Rocky Patel Edge Corojo A Size

Size: 9 x 50; from the Rocky Patel chest right out of it's epic cedar coffin

Wrapper: Corojo

Setting: At Mickies with Danielle drinking root beer

1st Impression: SPICE! Mild sweet complexity; not opened up yet.

Waitress says, "That's stinky!" I laugh and keep smoking

Perfect draw! Medium start! Earthy and cubanesque; root beer pairs nicely!

Burning nicely after per-burn w/matches and cedar strips!

First 1/6th:

Consistently spicy, rich and earthy notes w/class; small correction w/cedar strip

Now; more rich cubanesque notes emerge, medium bodied rich flavor, wonderful! Full flavor opens to the palette taking "the edge" off of a stressful week

RELAXED!

1/2 Way: Great still rich, not tarry; mild spice Wow! Opening up to new level. About 90 minutes in to cigar

Rich, spicy, cedary tones in this 1/6th

The flavor continues, exquisite, burning well!

1.25 Inch to go: getting STRONG! 110 minutes in

115 minutes in = blowout

GREAT FLAVOR

Final comments: Is this Cuban?

NOTE: After smoking a lot of ISOMs on vacation I would say the answer to the above question is no. This packs enough flavor to stand up to some of the ISOMs IMHO!

Re: Rocky Patel Edge Corojo A Size

You sure love those Rocky Patel's smokes, eh?

Thanks for the review. I have not tried his Edge yet. It is advertised as a full bodied smoke; one that will knock you on your @$$ but I have been reading seems to point more of medium than full smoke.

Love both of RP's Vintage and liked Diesel. Also enjoyed the Boxer from Indian Tabac line but was not thrilled with his Cameroon and Super Fuerte Maduro of the same line. Only tried one of each of the last two mentioned so still on the fence with them. Hoping they get better with some age.

Yes; I would say the regular Edge Maduro is full, and the Edge Missles are full also. The "A" size is so big I think the blend burns much mellower. I would liken the Edge to the deisel. I really like the Deisels, but I would say, no offense, that the Deisel is a low-rent edge.

No offense taken bro.

I like the Diesel but would say that at most it a was medium smoke. Have been planning on giving the Edge a try as most people give it a positive review.

The regular edge is a little smoother; if you want more strength I would "shoot for the missle"

Re: Rocky Patel Edge Corojo A Size

I actually just had a Edge X-out last night. It pretty much went along with your review. The wrapper was a hot as hell, dark red and sticky. A great smoke, and about 1/2 it really picked up it's punch. Better then alot of 8 and 10 dollar cigars I've had (I payed 4.25 for it).

Tristan:
I wrote review about 2 weeks ago about the Edge Maduro Missile. It was my first of the type and I absolutely loved it. Since then, I have had 3 more of them (one left). All that you wrote about the Corojo can be applied to the Maduro as well, minus the Maduro qualities. They really are excellent smokes; not too full/strong that they knock one on his/her arse and, the balance of flavors and complexity makes me look forward to my next one. (I hope my B&M has replenished his stock of them).
