Zino Platinum Shorty Review

Well, after having some excellent smokes last week, I thought that I would try an expensive one that had been gifted to me. Here it goes.

Temp was about 75* and I had my customary diet sprite to drink.

Construction was near flawless and very firm. This smoke had an excellent aroma to it and I could not wait to get into it.

After cutting and heating up the foot I lit this puppy up. It was medium as advertised but the flavor just was not there. I kept on waiting for something unique or exceptionally flavorful to develop only to be letdown. I prefer robustos so I know that you should get a more pronounced wrapper flavor in a smoke that is this small. I was thinking that this would be similar in flavor and body to some of the Davidoff's that I had smoked in the past but it was just a very dry taste with little if any flavor. For the cost of this thing you could get 3 good smokes that have good flavor.

Final summary: If it is free, I say go for it, but I am not sure that the flavor of this smoke will ever warrant the cost of it. I will give it another try in a different size but that will be the last chance. I say keep your money and buy Gispert, Torano, LGC, JdN, Fuente or Rocky Patel.

Re: Zino Platinum Shorty

great review. Ive been hearing this alot, but the brand still interests me so much. i havent tried one yet, but in time i will. I wonder what makes the sticks so expensive. Knowing they ARE flawless... simply beautiful to look at... but the flavour i guese is empty.... Still dont know why they produce these. Maby some people just liek the look of smoking a top dollar cigar, but doesnt enjoy the complex flavor's some have. who knows

I have a different review...

The construction and all was of great standards as we know already.
The lighting was quick and easy.
The draw was full and produced a nice quantity of smoke.

The taste:
Started off rich and creamy, almost chocolaty (thought about eating it a few times)
About half way it became spicy and made me think of a good indian curry and finally finished off with a tangy zing to it. I truly enjoyed this cigar very much.

Granted the price is steep, but I feel it was worth it.

It was my first cigar where I actually tasted the things I've only read about here.
Most of the other cigars I've had, have been too over powering for me to get the full flavours.

However, I am a noob and have only tried about 40 cigars so please try one for yourself

Nice reviews guys. Its great to see the contrast in how two people have such a different experience with the same cigar due to personal taste.

Re: Zino Platinum Shorty

I have had a few Zino's. Yes they are expensive and not that complex, but still a great cigar. As with all smokes, I say everyone should try this once. Just to say you did!

Thanks for the review!

Tried a shorty last night. I agree with Mr C but about 1/2 way through I tasted licorice, which was very nice. I paid about $15 for the stick several months back. I would say that was a little steep even for a once in awhile cigar.

Re: Zino Platinum Shorty

I smoked one a long while back when I was still pretty new to the scene.

Like stated above, I thought the construction and aesthetics of the cigar were top-notch, though.

My recollection was that the first bit was like smoking a peppermill - although I did not cut the foot - I lit the torpedo as it was. It was OK from then on - very one dimensional and toasty, maybe some coffee, but not much. Good for a changeup - a quick smoke that draws attention from the uninitiated, if you're into that sort of thing.
