Perdomo Reserve Champagne Epicure Review

I will start this by stating that I was told by a gorilla not too long ago not to give up on milder smokes while my tastes are changing.

Where: Mountains of Tennessee (home) 85* and humid
Drink: None

Construction: Not perfect as it was a little veiny and I could feel a stem near the cap, but it cut easy and had a good draw pre-light.

After all but giving up on mild smokes this week I thought that I would give this monster a try when I got home from Dallas. It had been staring at me everytime I open my humi with that gold cello. First impression, for a mild stick this thing has flavor for days. It was creamy and nutty with some real faint hints of cocoa. It kept a great flavor and draw and became more complex as I smoked it. It felt more like the light side of medium than outright mild, but I am still learning so I do understand that flavor and strength are somewhat objective. It burned perfect and stayed tasty which really impressed me after the powerhouses I have smoked this week. This was my first Perdomo cigar but I doubt that it will be my last. I HIGHLY recommend this to any newbie as a great anytime smoke. By far this stick as well as the Rocky Patel Connecticut and the Casa Torano have been the most flavorful mild (questionable) smokes I have tried. If anyone can tell me if the other Perdomo varieties are as good, please do.

I don't think youshould ever "give up" on milder smokes, even while your tastes are changing. If you do, you will ABSOLUTEY miss out on some fantastic smokes...like the Champagne.

I happen to be a big fan of the whole Perdomo line-the reserve line is a bit more potent than the champagne, the exponente's are a very good, reasonably priced medium bodied smoke, and for a budget stick I like the Tierra Del Sol.

Re: Perdomo Reserve Champagne Epicure

The Perdomo Champagne is one of my favorite NC cigars with my morning coffee. I was completely out of them when I saw some Epicures on the devil site. Couldn't resist. Just heard this morning that I "won" a 12-pack for about $3 a stick. That ought to hold me for a while.

Re: Perdomo Reserve Champagne Epicure

Smoked my first Champagne today. Awesome smoke. Personally, I think the 80 rating is waaaaay low. All of the Perdomos I have smoked have been awesome (and I don't overuse that word - even though I've already used it twice in this post ). I have a few Cameroon Torps in the La Tradicion line resting in the humi and will give one of them a try in the next couple of days. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

The others in the Reserve line are not only "as good"... they're even better. All the good qualities of the Champagne, but with richer and more intense flavors.

Re: Perdomo Reserve Champagne Epicure

Nice review, I have tried this and other Perdomos awhile back and was not very impressed, but I should give them another try since my tastes have also changed recently.
