Cuban Crafters Cameroon Torpedo - Real Time Review

So I'm going to steal Lance's excellent idea even though I have already started smoking this one. I looked forward to lighting this up for a while. It's had a couple weeks to chill in my coolerdor. It's 12PM central standard time here; basically on the weekends we revert to West coast time. So this is still what I consider my "morning smoke."

I toasted the foot with torch. Got a med bodies tobacco flavor that's a little sweet yet a little bitter. Harsh through the nose and starting to canoe. I'm trying to pace this. It's stronger than I thought it would be

This is decently constructed but that wrapper has a lot of "sunspots" on it. Not beetles I'm sure, for the imperfections lack the classic "bunker."

This is my second correction, and this cigar continues to challenge me with slightly harsh tones without as much flavor as I would expect. When I first came out here it looked quite nice. Now the wind is starting to pick up and the sky is clouding over. I fear it's only a matter of time before rain starts to douche my smoking environment. I'm going in to grab my digital camera so I can take pictures of this thing.

Lets see pickies! I found the sae lack of flavour and a poor harsh taste with this cigar [i got mine from a sampler pack from CC]. It looked great but had issues ranging from burn to the predominantly harsh taste. then it built up an unpurgable ammonia/egg taste. I wonder if itll do the same for you?

Approaching the 2nd third and it's smoothing out a tad. Getting a decent tobacco flavor with a raisony note. The room aroma of this cigar is not very compelling.

I am now in my garage! Correcting this a third time.

I am also getting little hints of blackberry brandy? Hmmmmmm

Maybe it's just that this needs a year of age? I'm not sure. Another comment is that I saw a small piece of leaf all the sudden. It looked like a patch on the wrapper almost. I was too curious to leave it there so I picked it off. Too my relif there was nothing under it to hide. I'm thinking this just got stuck on by accident?

There are parts of the wrapper leaf that a tad greenish. Ouch.

Still the same flavor!

Look at this:

Nature calls; I will have to go inside.

Another note. My fiance and I are both out in the garage on our laptops which happen to be matching. Our neighbor pulled up. I'm thinking they think we're out totally weird.

At least it's holding it's ash. As we aproach the end of 2/3 it is a tad less harsh; either that or my pallatte is being worn down!

LOOK!

Getting into the final third; fourth correction executed. I'm just not excited about finishing this, but we'll see. Flavor is sub par.

Re: Cuban Crafters Cameroon Torpedo - Real Time Review

Put out with an inch and 1/2 to go. The flavor was blah and still harsh smoke. Maybe these would mellow after 2 years, but I won't find out. I will re-aim my scope toward the other blends which I like right out of the box.

Re: Cuban Crafters Cameroon Torpedo - Real Time Review

Just burned one of these myself and had a similar experience -- pretty average smoke. I didn't sense any harshness though -- bitterness, yeah. I put a full review (or as full as my reviews get) on my blog:

I have had these too, and have a few left, and am in no hurry to smoke them for a while. I found the same things as you guys, and haven't figured out the deal with these. The flavor tends to be kind of bland, the burn had issues on 2 of the three I have smoked, and there was much less complexity. I have not had the ammonia taste at all though.

Re: Cuban Crafters Cameroon Torpedo - Real Time Review

Damn it seems to be just me who gets the ammonia taste! mine had been aged for 6 months, not sure how that differs with all you guys, but im deff with you on the blandness/lack of taste/harshness thing.
