Thumbs up Camacho Corojo Figrado Review

This is one of the first cigars I picked up when I came home for the summer, and I celebrated the end of my summer internship by lighting it up tonight.

Let's set the stage:

The Stats:
7X54
Honduran wrapper/binder/filler
Torpedo shape
Set me back $6 or so if my memory serves me correctly.

Setting: Outside on my deck, listening to the White Album and watching FC Barcelona vs. Chivas Guadelajara through the window. About 85 degrees with some heat lightening going off in the distance. I've got a bottle of water and a Dominion Root Beer by my side.

First Impression: Very nice looking wrapper, I've always admired the simplicity of Camacho labels. They're like the Penn State uniforms of cigar labels. Construction looks superb. Cuts clean, and has a good draw pre-light.

The Burn:
Right off the bat I can tell this is going to be fun. Great taste which I can only describe as toasted earthen walnut. The cigar isn't super-smoky but it's more than adequate. The smoke is creamy at first but then thins out into pleasantly thick, textured wisps.

I go about 2 1/2 inches before I reluctantly ash it for the first time. The flavor is still strong and still great. After the first ashing I got a slightly uneven burn, but with a little help that is quickly corrected.

The second third is where this cigar made it's case. The flavor got stronger, clearer and was extremely pleasant. The smoke became creamy and thick, almost perfect. I could tell that this cigar was something special.

The final third was as good as the second. Great flavor, great smoke, great everything. Watching the heat lightning and listening to the Beatles made a perfect combo with this cigar. Strong medium-full flavor was perfect for unwinding, and you all weren't kidding when you said that this was a big "buzz" cigar. The perfect way to unwind.

The one thing that really surprised me was that the cigar never really got hot. Usually in the final third my toungue begins to hurt, especially with fuller cigars. Even at the very end when I told myself "only three more puffs and you're kicking this at the risk of burning your fingers" I ended up taking ten more.

Romeo y Julieta 1864's used to be my go-to smoke, but that status is in serious jeopardy after tonight. This cigar was, dare I say, camagnificient.

John Lennon was oh so close when he crooned, "Happiness is a warm gun". Turns out happiness is a warm 'gar. And a Camacho at that.

Total Burn Time: 1:05

Final Verdict: A/91, this will in all likelihood be the first box I buy when I get the funds.

Nice review! The Camachos hardly ever fail to dissapoint. Great full-bodied, full-flavored smokes.

Only an hour and five minutes to burn that. DAMN! I can make a 5x50 last for an hour and fifteen sometimes. That huge cigar would take at least two for me!

Nice smokin'!

Re: Camacho Corojo Figrado

They are generally a little more money than the corojo, but IMHO, worth every penny.. My local B&M charges $10/stick for them (Bear in mind, I Live in Commiefornia, with a 46.76% tax on cigars) and they are worth every penny.
