Noob Review: Padron Anni 1926

Setting: Backyard, watching an episode of Entourage
Drink: Gatorade Cool Blue
Food: A few grapes and a few cherries

Appearance: The other 1926 Anni I have is flawless. I decided to light this one up now before it got any more damaged in my humi (the foot was a little bit peeling, had a few scratches here and there)

First Third: Great creamy smoke, perfect draw, tastes amazing
Second Third: Starting to hit me. Still haven't ashed it, and its getting over an inch and a half now. The ash looks good enough to light up and smoke.
Final Third: Full flavor, full bodied, I feel practically drunk from it. Time to put the sucker out and lie down for a few minutes.

Overall: Great smoke. I prefer the 1964 Anni, however. Great creamy, white smoke. Amazing looking ash (Only ashed the cigar twice), fairly even burn (needed one touchup, despite the torn wrapper from the beginning).

Total burn time: 45 minutes or so (I should have drawn it out a little more, but seeing my boy Vinny got me all excited )
Overall: 8/10

I felt the aftereffects/buzz from this smoke a good 2 hours after I smoked it.

Re: Noob Review: Padron Anni 1926

I have only had one Padron Anni 1926. It was the #6 maduro. It was absolutely amazing. Now that I think about it this is the only Padron I have had.

Note to Self: Smoke more Padrons.

Thanks for the review.

They don't really compare IMO. Its not that the Anni is so much better (well, it is, but thats besides the point)... just different tastes all together I think.

Just curious, but Natural or Maduro. I prefer the Maduro for the 64s and the Natural in the 26s. But i ve only had a few of each...good review of a great cigar!

I love maduros but for some reason I didn't like the 26 annv but loved the 64 natural that was strange to me I said I would give it another try but for now the natural is the bomb. Maybe some will want to go in on a box of padrons with me in the future, PM me and let me know.

Re: Noob Review: Padron Anni 1926

I like the Padrons in both Nat and Mad, but have only smoked anniversary series 26/64s in Nat. Kind of at the mercy of my B&M in this regard. Can't complain as they have the largest selection of Padrons that I have seen anywhere.

Nice review. Which anni did you smoke by the way?

Re: Noob Review: Padron Anni 1926

Thanks for all the feedback on the Padron's. I am also a major noob and am searching for my taste. I just bought a Padron from the thousand series last night. Was gonna smoke it this weekend but think ill light it up tonight. My future father in law is a huge Padron anni fan, the 64. I checked my local store here in Boardman,OH for them but they were all out. Only had the Anni sample pack and I couldnt afford the 90 bucks. I am getting married next month and my fiancee will kill me. Have to pay off the caterer. I also bought a couple fuente curly tops. I hated them. Thought they might be a decent 2 buck stick. Reminded me of philly's or some crap I smoked in high school and thought I was cool. Tasted like ammonia and burned terrible. Live and learn when you are a noob huh? I am still searching for a decent day to day smoke that wont break my wallet.

Re: Noob Review: Padron Anni 1926

Padron, makes the B&M carry a large quanity of stock and ppl end up only wanting the top of the line. It leaves the B&M holding the butt end of the deal. Why do that when they can carry smaller inventory on other cigars and make just as much if not better money on other lines that do not require such large inventories? Just a thought....Perhaps some of the folks who make a B&M carry large orders before they will fill the order for the premium should reconsider.

Re: Noob Review: Padron Anni 1926

Yeah thats what the owner said. I was trying to get to know the people there and chatted for awhile. He said to get the anni's he has to order so much of the thousands in a bulk shipment. He also said Padron is a pain in the ass to deal with. Being new I have no idea but felt a little discouraged. It seems where I am there is not too many shops to choose from. Only 2 in Boardman. 1 in Austintown, and 1 in Niles that I know of. My Father in law says he is going to take me to some shops he has been going to for years up in the Cleveland area. He assures me the shops in my area are nothing compared to these. I am looking forward to that trip. I need some good shops and fellow BOTL's to spread my noob wings with.

It is like 3000 dollars in inventory just to get the premium, to order...<sigh>
we sometimes wonder why some B&M won't or can't carry a particular cigar or only get them at Christmas...oh well, such is the way of business.

Well....the owner assures me he is getting 26 and 40 anni's in soon. But he has no idea when. I will try the thousand series until then. He did say they get more around Christmas. I also noticed that most cigars in the shop were in plain view but I had to ask for the Padron's and 5 Vegas. It was like they hide them until someone asks where they are. I am pretty new to this so is it normal for a shop to hide the good stuff in the back somewhere?

Simon,
Cleveland here. Got a B & M here that keeps the Anni's in his walk in humidor and only sells them when somebody requests them. Excellent smoke! I've had a couple of 1926's and they never disappoint!
