My only experience with the 2000 was really good. It actually turned me on to buy some 3000s. Don't give up on it. Most gorillas will tell you that you have to give a stick 2 - 3 tries before you toss it in the "never smoke again" pile.

Many people will tell you not to draw a flame into a cigar so it sounds like you didn't do anything wrong. There are probably a gazillion ways to light, but this technique works pretty well for me:

1) Toast it (careful not to let it flame up)
2) Blow softly on the foot to get her fire to take good and look for dark areas that need warming up
3) Do a soft (non-contact) blow purge at the cut end
4) Draw softly once or twice
5) Let it sit for a minute or so without drawing on it so it will even out.

My experience with this method has been truly successful. Haven't had any burn problems in......well.......I can't remember.

I guess I'm one of the few that never liked Padrons. Not a bad smoke but nothing that excites the taste buds for me. I've had various 2000s, 3000s and my last was a 5000. BTW, the last time I bought one I was confused by what was a maddie and what was natural.....they looked awful similar to me.

I like 'em.
Sounds like your smoke might have been poorly treated.
I've (knock wood) never had a Padron that (mis)behaved in that fashion.

Bests

Hey, did you try it last weekend? What did you think? I just picked up a new box myself -- had one, and it was even better than I remembered.

Anyway, just wondering if you had a better experience the second time out...
