Sounds like robbery compared to G-MAN's price.

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

I have heard of these cigars but have never been able to find them at any local B&M's. I have read about them and they seem to follow along with the other Pepin products. That price is amazing...please keep us updated of any further developments.

Hey why not a contact name and number for this B&M so we can get some for ourself?

Scottie

I like them, but not for that price. My B & M hasn't had them since that day. I will stop by tomorrow and see if they got anymore in. If they have some more, I will gladly post it on here and see if anybody wants some.

I will post an update tomorrow.

Roger.

What are the chances of ordering from Pepin's factory direct. The phone # is on the net.

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

I smoked one today. a TORO from the Cigar King Sampler in the humi since October. A little embarassed to admit it, but it is my first Pepin from the samplers I bought. Good part is, I, as opposed to you other animals, was able to resist so they got some nice age to them now .

Additionally I picked up one of those Holts $20 humidors last month and dedicated it completely to Pepin. I was convinced after reading this article (http://www.cigarenvy.com/2006/07/03/...beyond-part-i/) that they need to be stored, and definately smoked, at low RH around 60% due to high criollo and corojo content in his cigars. Well it was true in regard to this cigar.

I'll keep the review short. I really enjoyed it. I thought medium body with nice rich flavor. Maybe I don't understand what "finish" is, but I believe it to mean the aftertaste or lingering flavor of the cigar. Well if that is what it means, this cigar had great finish - best I've tasted and first time I've noticed it.

I am glad I found this thread, but I am, frankly, a little lost. Are the ones from the Cigar King sampler the same as the bundled ones that can be obtained at the store in New York. And at that store (El Rey de Los Habanos) are the bundle prices on these really that inexpensive??????? If so, WOW just WOW!!!

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

Here's a little bit of info on the El Rey de los Habanos.

As to where you might find them online, you could try e-mailing the factory (habanos1@bellsouth.net) or call the national sales rep, Mike Villaplana. PM me for the number.

TIA...

My B&M has a few bundles of them.

$100/25 out the door.

He also has the JFR (Just For Retailers), a Pepin blend made by Tabacalera Tropical. $4 each, dunno if he would sell them by the box.

Anybody interested, PM me and let's see if we can clean him out.

He actually has pretty damn good prices for a B&M, and he's a helluva nice guy too. He gave me one of the JFRs to try. I would not be opposed to setting a large purchase up and mailing some smokes to some folks.

I could even buy the stuff first, I know things have been a little.......off-putting here in the trade/WTS dept lately.

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

hmm, guess there is going to be little chance of snagging these at the $50 per bundle as reported by the OP, must have been a fluke

I am with you on this one. I would not hesitate to pick up a bundle or two had it been at the $50.00 price per bundle. At a $100 per bundle I believe I will sit on the fence until I have a chance to try out a couple single that I had obtained at the CigarKing sampler a few months back.

Hope the El Rey De Los Habanos tastes good. If not, well, look at the bright side, I save a hundred buck at least (or maybe even two hundred bucks saving)...

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

I smoked an El Rey De Los Habanos torpedo last night.

Damn, what a cigar. The burn was a bit wavy but after an inch it started to straighten up and then halfway down it burned straight as a razor. Flavor wise it was lots of pepper with a hint of leather. From start to finish, there was no question that this was a premium smoke. No wonder the cigar world went nuts for Pepin's after he released this cigar.
