Thumbs up El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle Review

I went to my local B&M today and he just got a shipment of Pepin Blue Labels, Pepin JJ Serie and Vegas Cubanos. He also brought out of bundle of the El Rey De Los Habanos Don Pepin Garcia Bundled cigars. They were about a churchill size. Well, I liked the price point ($50 for 25) so a bought a bundle or the El Rey De Los Habanos and a few of the Vegas Cubanos.

When I got home I couldn't wait to try the bundle since it was a Pepin cigar a a very nice price.

Smell and Construction were very good. These cigars were what we have come to expect from Pepin products.

I am not the best at picking out flavors in a cigar, but this one was medium bodied, not as full as the other lines, but the flavor was very indicitive of the other lines produces by Garcia. It was one dimensional for the most part, but I was okay with that because the flavor that it produced was pleasurable from the outset.

The burn was spot on for most of the cigar, except when I was distracted as I was doing something else and I had to correct it. Once I corrected it, no further problems. The cigar held a very firm ash until I would knock it off.

I nubbed this churchill and I plan to go back tomorrow and pick up another bundle or two. For $2 a stick for a cigar coming out of El Rey De Los Habanos with this flavor was well worth it.

If you can find these anywhere, I would encourage you to pick up a bundle.

I have searched and searched for more information on these cigars and I haven't been able to find much at all.

Based on how they smoke and the fact that the ash is very firm and is able to stay on for a while, I would guess that they are long filler.

I am still looking for more information regarding this bundle. I plan on stopping by the B&M again today.

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

IMHO - this his is the "sleeper" cigar in the Pepin family of cigars. Consistently, I like these cigars more than any of the cigars that come out of the Miami factory. Great review!

el reys are long filler, nicaraguan origin. with corojo wrappers of cuban seed, a great bargain makes for an awesome everday smoke even and comes in a few different sizes.

Tell me G-man, do you think the lack of complexity and troublesome burn would improve with some more rest time? From what I have read and heard about Pepin Garcia, he is a master blender and roller, uses the best tobaccos and constructs his products well. I can't believe that with his experience and know how, that his blends would be one dimensional.

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

I guess it is a matter of personal taste. I wish I too could get the bundles locally. But, all the others I have tried have not been one dimensional or at least I did not think so. My tastes are not what someone else might like though either.

Hello all BOTLs:

If any one of you (Christopher Columbus) can find out where to purchase these cigars on-line or even from a shop with a telephone number, please email me or send me a P.M. I really want to test-try these cigars.

TIA...

Re: El Rey De Los Habanos Bundle

Is that for a bundle of 25? If so, that is not really what I would call a great bargain. I haven't tried any of these so they may be worth it. I will have to taste one tonight and see.
