AF 8-5-8 Flor Fina Review

Picked up last-minute freebie tickets to Dave Matthews at the Woodlands for last night and you can still smoke on the lawn so I took a Cameroon 8-5-8. I grabbed a Cameroon and a Maduro a couple of weeks ago at the B&M so they've been sitting right at 65% for two weeks.

Cameroon was good, right about an hour, never got hot until it got down to about an inch left. I've not liked many of the smaller Fuentes but the 8-5-8 was really nice. I enjoyed it but not enough to keep any around.

This evening I smoked the Maduro one and _really_ enjoyed it. This is my second favorite Fuente behind the SG Cuban Belicoso. I don't think I'll pay the $6 I paid at the B&M for them but I'm definitely going to keep a couple of these in the humidor.

Yup, this is one of my favorites too. I'v got 2 boxes in the tupperdor. They are great when you buy 'em, but I think they will get even better w/ age. You can buy them for a good price at Holts.

O.K. I just checked the Holts price - $93.75 for a box of 25 8-5-8 maddies.
That's $3.75 per stick... Other sites may have an even better deal, but that's where I got mine.

One of my favs as well. I've got my B&M looking for sungrown 858's. I've been wanting to try those.

The Sun Grown Cuban Belicoso was great, I hear the SG 858s are really good and really hard to come by.

My B&M go to! I love these things in cammie and the price is great. As much as I enjoy the sungrown wrappers on the cheataue, I have never been able to find it on the 858.

When I'm in Vegas next month the sungrown 858's are on my Casa Fuente list. Seems like a sure thing that they will have them. But those maddie's - they are one great smoke.

Never had one, but im gonna have to pick one or two up. They have them for 3.75 a pop at Serious Cigars as well.

One of my go to Fuentes due to price and consistency.

The maduro has always been a favorite of mine....never had a burn or construction issue. These take a back seat only to the Hemingway Maduros and the Añejos.

I doubt I'll ever walk into the B&M again and not pick up one or two unless he's out of them. I've got a Short Story in the humidor screaming "Smoke Me!" that I think I'm going to put off until next weekend, that'll give it a solid two weeks in there. B&M doesn't have any of the Añejos but I'm on the lookout, Serious Cigars doesn't even have any...

TechMetalMan: Definitely pick up a Maduro Londres and a Maduro 858 Flor Fina next time you're in Serious, both were really good smokes.

Am I the only one who can't get past the 'Dave Matthews' thing???

JK of course, Enya's and Zampher (pan flute 'guy') are where is at!!!!

Here in CA the AF 898's go for $7+ to about $10 each!! Almost half of that is taxes (62.5% cigar tax + 7.25% sales tax). But not worry, the cigar tax is going up, turns out I (we) haven't been paying our fair share!!! Damn us lazy folks w/ our jobs, family, and charity... Will we never learn?

Ouch, with tax like that I don't see how the B&Ms stay in business.
