Rocky Patel Sun Grown PC- Great Stick!

This is going to be a special stick in my heart because of the circumstances in which it was smoked.

I smoked it with a few of my best friends who are leaving for Universities in a few days. This was sort of the final get together before everyone leaves.

We went to Harvest Coffee and sat around a talked, drank coffee, and smoked (my friend Matt had a JDN Antono, and my friend Landon had a Bucanero Texas Star).

This was a little beauty. I think I am falling in love with smaller sized sticks. I loved the slightly light wrapper with the bright red bands on it. Beautiful, minimal veins, perfect construction.

The draw was also perfect. I lit this with my new Ronson Lighter (gifted by TipTone) and it lit up just fine. Burned well, drew well.

The first few puffs were SPICY. Whew! It did mellow out after about a quarter inch. It had a nice, smooth, slightly spicy flavour for the next few inches.

The last inch and a half or two inches this little stick picked up in strength and the spice flavour picked up quite a bit as well.

I really enjoyed this little baby. Great price for a great cigar. I made this thing last about an hour or so (I'm a slow smoker).

I have one more that I may let sit for awhile (meaning a month or so ha!).

I highly recommend this one- great draw, copious smoke, great flavour, great burn!

Picked up a box of these a couple months ago from El Diablo and have been very very happy with them. Rich ESG taste and smooth. The best full-flavored NC petite I've found so far. At 2 bucks a pop, they're fantastic.

Re: Rocky Patel Sun Grown PC- Great Stick!

I picked up a "bundle" 0f RP factory select sungrown torpedoes at the Famous auction a couple of weeks ago. These are imperfects, supposedly cosmetic and are not banded. But whoopee golly gee,are these some nice smokes. I don't believe these are as spicy as the cigar you you reviewed, and I am a spice freik, so I guess I'll have to spring for the real deal.
Thanks so much for the very helpfull review.

Great review, Trent. I had one of these last week and my experience with this stick was very similar to yours. Glad it was a special smoke for you too.

Good review. I am glad you finally broke down and smoked it
I like these also and find them more medium/full rather than full. A small matter though, they do have an abundance of well balanced spice and taste to them. I love a nice sungrown wrapper, it makes all the difference in the taste profile of a smoke.
I haven't smoked the RP sungrown seconds yet but, if they are anything like the Vintage 1990 seconds, then they are a steal. I found no significant difference between the first and second lines with the exception of very small cosmetic blemishes.

I'm pretty much an RP Sungrown whore - and I give a thumbs up on the seconds (from Famous). They may not look the best sometimes - little splotch here and there in the wrapper - but they smoke excellent. So no hesitation here - I buy both, firsts and seconds.

(I actually have one humidor that I keep nothing in but RP Seconds - )

Thanks for the great review Trent. I really like the RP Sungrown but haven't tried the PC size. Damn, and just when I thought I was through buying more cigars for awhile.

Ditto for me on the seconds. I keep the RP Sun Grown factory select PC's on hand all the time. When all I have time for is a quick smoke, I always reach for these. The compare favorably to the firsts.
