H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon Review

Style: Belicoso (6.12 x 52)

Aging: About 3 months

Prelight: Some wee splotches on the wrapper, which was also coarse with tiny bumps. Thick, rich smell.

Beverage: Barbancourt Reserve du Domaine rum, over ice

Construction: It had a nice draw and an even, slow burn. It produced a moderate amount of smoke. No problems with it.

Taste/Smoking Experience: There was a hint of spice on the light, which faded quickly. It had a very hearty tobacco flavor that lingered in the back of my throat after every draw, which was fantastic and was my favorite part about the cigar. I could pick out some faint traces of the spiciness when I exhaled some smoke through my nose. The aroma was pleasant, but with a little bite. I smoked it down somewhere between halfway and 2/3ds, which is about as far as I usually go, and it took ~50 minutes.

Price: JR has them for $5.40 based on box prices.

Overall: This was an enjoyable cigar, but the price is getting near the top of the range that I like to pay for cigars. I would certainly smoke another one (or three) again, but I won't be buying lots of them.

Question: Does anyone know if this has typical flavors for a Cameroon wrapped cigar?

I like the traditional NC Upmann's but have not smoked a Vintage Cameroon I liked. Good review, you seem to have been expecting more, much like myself.

Re: H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon

i had one of these a couple weeks ago, and my impressions were kinda similar. I did have some burn issues with mine, but it could've been because of the environment i was in while smoking it. I also noticed that it had some spicy hints early on, but those did fade away pretty early into the cigar. I could definitely tell the difference of the cameroon wrapper. I would say that this is a good cameroon specimen

Re: H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon

Good review, thanks. The last one I had I was expecting more of a complex smoke than I got. Perhaps because of it's name I thought it would have been more than it was. At any rate, it was good for what it was. Good construction, taste was sweet with some spice and earthy but, that was it. I wouldn't pay 5 bucks for them which is fairly common probably because of it's name. But not a dog rocket by any means. The Cameroon has a sweetness to it and this was evident throughout the smoke.

Great review. I like this one also. Nice light to medium body with just enough complexity to be one of the good ones.
