Kahlua Robusto 5 1/2 x 48 Review

Kahlua Robusto 5 1/2 x 48

Not part of the Acid line or any other apparently they stand alone in the line of Drew Estate cigars.

Ok here goes it is 7:59 in the morning and I just attempted to suck off all the sugar from the end of the Kahlua cigar so I can get past that. Yep it is a sweet one. Yeeowza too sweet again. A bit sweet would be one thing this thing is as sweet as the Kuba Kuba. Maybe not quite so but pretty dern close. Does not taste like Kahlua by the way. Wonder who paid who with the use of the name Kahlua. I figure Drew Estate paid for the privellage, but who knows not I.

Ok let us cut it and do a pre light taste test. I use a guillotine cutter.

Well it is going to draw nice that is for sure.
The cigar is well constructed and purty. I like the label for some reason. Probably the red medallion on it. "Very spakly" to quote The Rainman. Firm but gives not to spongy.
The pre lit tast is actually very nice can tell it is infused with "something".
Can not describe the taste. "Different"

Except for the sugary wrap so far so good. Or is that so good so far.
Must make pot O coffee. I take it black. I figure this "should" be a good cigar with coffee and in light of the fact the wrap is sweet even better with straight up black coffee. We shall see.

Ahh freshly ground and perked coffee got the sugar off me lips. Mmmm good.

Here goes let's light the bugger.

Damn sugar still there must be soaked in the stuff.

Draws like a dream.
Light and fluffy smoke. Very mild.
You know what on first light and taste this is a very good smoke if you can get past the sugar.

For those that take sugar in Coffee you're gonna love this.

Good tobaco I must say.

I am trying to be as open minded as possible here as I like straight tobaco without infusion or any other dare I say it. "Gimick" There I said it.

Ok big draw and inhale. . . Nice. Don't like the sugar though. I said that already didn't I.

It does have some underlying flavors that I can not put my finger on. Maybe these are the botanicals they speak of on the Drew Estate website.

Ok let me smoke this in peace and I will finish report later.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a very 'interesting' smoke!

Re: Kahlua Robusto 5 1/2 x 48

I have smoked about one third and am having black coffee with this.
I must say it is a very good smoke except for the sugar.
The coffee offsets it somewhat and that is good otherwise I could not continue smoking that sweet flavor keeps coming through. I finaly pinned the sweet flavor down. It tastes exactly like juicy fruit gum.

I will say that it is a very good cigar. Never thought I would say that expecially after the Acid Kuba Kuba. It is better than the Kuba Kuba not as much whoo ha in the tobaco. More like a natural cigar that is sugar coated.

It does have a bit of a nutty flavor which is good. The smoke is mellow and smooth and I would definitely recomend to one who likes a sweetened cigar. This I must say is a very good cigar. Minus the sugar I would say it is a damn good cigar. Very mellow, not harsh and you know you're smoking something it is not like some "Air Guitar Cigars" for begginers. Again dare I say it similar to a Macanudo. Which is almost saying it is almost like an "Air Guitar Cigar"

I am going to smoke it all the way down as the coffee helps a lot in getting rid of the sugary taste.

You can even french inhale without your nose feeling like someone is stabing it with pins and needles.

Nice. I must admit that after that Kuba Kuba I am very surprised.

Thought this one was going to be dislikable before I actually tried it.

Glad no one offered to take it off my hands like I had offered because I was actually going to send it if there were any takers. That was not a joke.

Final critique: smoked it to band took off band and continued this is the last third. Where band was it started burning unevenly and running got spicy then a bit hot for my taste. I let the cigar die with dignity.

Would I smoke one again? If someone gave one to me yes. Would I buy one again. No to sweet. Minus the sugary taste on wrapper I would have thought this a damn fine mild cigar.

Overall a very nice smoke. For those looking for a mild sweety this is for them. For the ones that like em straight definitely not for them.

Yes it was good but damn was that wrapper sweet.

That's it for me on the Kahlua.

I had one of these last week and i must say for a flavoured cigar it was quite good, very sweet but some nice flavour too. i had mine with a pint of fine english ale and it paired up quite nicely.

nice comprehensive review!

Re: Kahlua Robusto 5 1/2 x 48

I had one of those awhile ago with after I came back from dinner with a friend. I loved it but then again I am very new to cigar smoking and some of the stronger cigars are a bit too much for me.
