Royal Jamaica Oro Corojo Robusto Review

tbh this smoke felt and looks slightly dry despite perfect conditions-just one of those cigars. Unfortunately it didnt smoke as nicely as it was packaged with its gold foil wrap etc. to top it off, i was stung by a wasp, not a great experience...6.0

Name: RJ OC Robusto
Batch No.:
MSRP:
Size: Robusto
Aged in my humidor: bomb
Drink Choice: lemon juice
Occasion: none
Time of smoke & Weather Conditions: by the pool, 31 degrees Celsius very sunny.
Cut Choice: Guillotine
Pre-Light thoughts: Tobacco flaky, shatters on cut but wrapper tobacco fine. rich heavy aroma of Choc/cocoa. cocoa draw. less sweetness than aroma, still rich.
The Light: fine
The Draw: fine
First third: Everything boded well for this cigar, rich taste and aroma etc. Strange grassy lit smell no rich aroma here. oddly light for such a dark cigar. Good ash retention. First few puffs spicy with a musty tobacco flavour. mellowed out to a strange combo of bad grass of cocoa coffee [rich with edge]. god cocoa aftertaste. spice reappeared after a few puffs. develops a sour harsh taste.
Second third: sour taste mingling with stale taste [relight perhaps, although there was no time for it to develop as i relit immediately after it went out]. cocoa aftertaste still there.
Final third:
Final note: Let it burn out halfway due to sour taste. Promising start with rich flavours interestingly combined. marred by poor construction and quality tobacco [stalks, harsh flavour]. Filler was lots of stalks.

Re: Royal Jamaica Oro Corojo Robusto

Baric,

VERY GOOD REVIEW!!! And you bring to light the fact that R-Jams are all over the map in terms of flavor and quality!

I haven't sampled the stick you reviewed. However, I have a half-box left of the R-Jam "Prix D'OR" Torpedo Maduros that are among my favorites! The flavor is distinctive, and the aroma is amazing!

But back to the point... Being that many blenders (Rolando Reyes and Victor Sinclair, for example) seem to be "all blended out!" Like the car companies, in their effort to offer as many provacative "makes and models" as they can, there are bound to be a few "lemons."

Ahh well... I guess that's what CS is about, huh!? Reviews of the bad stuff are every bit as important as reviews of the good stuff!!!
