Thumbs up La Gloria Cubana Serie R #4 Review

I just smoked one of these I got from my local B&M. I wanted to try one due to the review on the #5 I read the other day in here.
It is about a 47/8 X 54 stick. Very solidly constructed, with a Maduro wrapper.
The pre-light draw was very easy and not too loose. The light was a bit of a problem but, it self correct within the first 1/2 inch.
I was immediately hit with spice, and lots of it. It was very 'in your face', but not unpleasant. There was lots of smoke, accented by tastes of leather and it had an earthy strong tobacco flavor throughout the smoke. This stick is liberally laced with ligero, and it's presence is felt throughout the smoke. The only thing I was dissatisfied with about this smoke was that it didn't seem to have very many varied tastes; it was strong with spice and leather and perhaps some burnt wood but that was it. I even let some smoke out through my nostrils, which I never do, and didn't seem to do much for me. I nubbed it, which is a testament to the fact that I enjoyed it. I am beginning to lean towards fuller bodied smokes but, I'm still not there yet, in terms of being impervious to that burning sensation that I get from cigars liberally laced with ligero. I like this cigar and will get more to round out my humidor.

Nice review. Also one of my favorites. I try to keep a couple on hand. I've nubbed just about everyone I've lit up.

Re: La Gloria Cubana Serie R #4

I tried smoking one of these a few weeks ago- bad draw- couldn't keep it lit.

I have one sitting in my Humi- has been for over a month. I think I will give it a try next week sometime.

Correction, it is a 4 7/8 X 52 and not 54

Very nice review, I like all the LGC's I have tried. Trent, try it at 65% for a bit, see if it helps

Sounds like a decent cigar, maybe its lack of taste was just one off.

I had the same problem with one. I finally put it out and decided to give the other one I bought some rest. I smoked that one the other day after a few months and it was much better than the previous one.

Great review of one of my favorite smokes. How much rest did you give that stick before you smoked it?

IMO they are both excellent brands and smokes.

None, absolutely none. It was straight out of their humi.

great smoke but I do tend to lean towards the #5 and #6 maduros. Nice review. These are good, but one-dimensional.

Yes I agree Scottie, and I'll try the #5 next for comparisons sake. I was probably expecting more variation in the tastes because of their regular LGC smokes which are very good in their own right.
