Gran Habano Corojo #5 Gran Robusto Review

I picked this cigar up about 1 month ago from Liberty Tobacco here in SD. I had had the GH lines but couldn't remember which one I liked best. I got the #3 and #5 and decided to take the #5 with me camping over the labor day weekend to get reacquainted. Here's my late review:

Setting: Shore of Lake Jennings, catfishing with the wifey
Time of day: late afternoon
Temp: Still pretty warm, probably upper 80s
Beverage: Budweiser in a can. What else are you supposed to drink while fishing?!

The Gran Robusto is a beast. Thing feels like it weighs a pound. Dark, solid, beefy. The sturdy, dark construction and deeply pungent pre-light aroma lets you know you are in for a heavyweight bout. I lit it up and was rewarded with copious amounts of thickly aromatic smoke. Strong, yes, but not overwhelming (at first). I'm not the best at picking out flavors but this cigar packed a lot of it in there. It was like, "Damn! I know this thing is kicking my ass but I just can't put it down!" When I was done, I was dizzy as hell and felt completely dazed. It was a bit too much for me but for some of the more seasoned smokers this might be just what you're after, especially the quality to cost factor taken into account. It was a memorable smoke. A powerhouse for me. I felt like I could still taste it a day or two later! Next up is the #3 and I'll see how they compare.

nice review.

I like the #5, especially when considering the "bang for the buck" factor. They are quality smokes at a decent price.

I hope you like the #3. It just wasnt my kind of cigar, not sure what about it made it unappealing to me, I just remember enjoying it anywhere near as much as i did the #5

Re: Gran Habano Corojo #5 Gran Robusto

Thanks for the review, I've several of these monsters in my humi but haven't found the time to tackle them yet. Their size is a little intimidating given that I'm a slow smoker with only a little time to smoke, but now fairly warned, I'll see if I can find a good time and place to do it.

I'm partial to the corojo wrapper, and may look into getting some of these.
Thanks for the review.

Rothchildes come in 40 count boxes. Can usually get them for under $2 a stick at cigarauctioneer.com
Which reminds me -- I need to stock up before winter sets in.
