The wrapper was solid and smelled of barnyard (I was surprised by this), and it had a faint look and feel of plume to it along with more defined toothiness.
It was good the first time I wrote about it, it is even better now.
It is so at my smoking room as well.

Re: Review of El Rico Habano Club Maduro

DonP these are great smokes. I love the kick they have.
Was out one night before the MB Herf with Tech-Ninja and Spooble and was smoking one.
Well I accidentaly inhaled a mouthful of the smoke and it took everything I had not to .
Didn't feel right for about 20 minutes.
just goes to show what too much and can do to you.

Re: Review of El Rico Habano Club Maduro

I scored a box of these a few months back and had another last night. Your review is spot on - spice, leather, cedar. No bitterness at all. the wrappers on mine are unreal looking - very dark and VERY oily and toothy. I saw another open box of these in my B&M and they didnt look as good as my box (though they still looked pretty good).

Even though i LOVE the stregnth of the natural ERHs, I prefer the Maduros (still pretty strong) b/c the flavor is better imo.

I love El Ricos. If you have the patience, these smokes age beautifully.

You sir, are a madman However, it spoke well of you to avoid not hurling after that ill conceived mistake In spite of that though, they are excellent smokes and, as you discovered, worthy of respect ...muhahaha!

i'll agree to this statement if you say the "original blend",personnaly I think the new "re-blended" line isn't all that great. IMO.

Re: Review of El Rico Habano Club Maduro

I had a box of the double coronas, which were very good. A few other Gorillas received some as bombs as well. They are a very good smoke. I wish I'd set a few back to sleep for awhile, but it was my first box once I really got into cigars, so they went pretty fast.

Hmmm, and yet the new re-blended line was re-created because the original faded into "wasn't that great status". Everyone is different

So I have heard. All I know is, the last two boxes I bought, about a year ago, are pretty darn spectacular for moderately priced NC. The well-made wooden cab is a nice extra, too. Not sure how bad these pepper/nic bombs ever got but I musta missed the bad spell.

Super cigar to snork in nat or maddie - they will help you remember how alive you are when the flavor-firecrackers hit the back of your nose... love to snork the El Rico. Not sure why they get so little play here. We might oughta start an El Rico Habano nat and mad monitoring thread.

Mister Moo reporting in: todays pepper level on ERH nats in 8.9.
