Gurkha Legend Robusto Review

I smoked one of these today for only the second time. It was a Robusot, the first one I smoked was back in April, and it was a torpedo. I wrote a review on it in the top 25 then, and am revisiting it here, now that they have had about 6 months time in my humi.

Then:
>>I had my first one this past weekend and loved it. It was still a little young and had some uneveness to the burn but, it was still enjoyable. The construction was solid; the burn (except the uneveness) was good with a whitish ash; the aroma was sweet kind of like cotton candy but not as sweet. Through the first third of it, it was smooth, then came the spiciness; then came the smooth/spiciness again; the last third was full of cocao, nuttiness and wood, and the everpresent (by now) spice. Very complex, very good smoke. When I was finished there was barely a half-inch left. These will be even better with some more time in the humidor. I got mine on auction<<

Now:
After 6 months I removed this one from the cello and it had a nice covering of plume on it, and there was a sweetish smell of barnyard to it.
The pre-light draw was easy and had a sweet leathery taste. The light was w/o problem, and I was immediately hit with a full leathery/cedar like flavor.
Within the first inch I could taste spice, leather and cedar. The first third was dominated by a full tobacco flavor including the tastes I mentioned above. This didn't have that Ligero laced spice to it, and wasn't harsh at all. The tobaccos in this stick are aged 8 years and, with some rest time all of this good stuff came right out and stayed throrughout the smoke (unlike my first smoke 6 months ago). I liked it then, and I like them even more now
The second third was smoother but the spice and leather were still there. Some dark chocolate accents showed themselves though and mixed well with the others. The final third was fuller, and the tastes that showed in the first 2 thirds came back (Leather, cedar and spice) and were stronger. I smoked this to within 3/4 of an inch, and there was no harshness. The finish is long and kind of dry.
Overall I evaluated this as a Medium to full smoke which leans more toward the fullbodied end. It is a high quality smoke, well constructed with a very good draw. If I had paid 20 bucks for it, I would not be disappointed but, I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't I figure I got an excellent deal from the devil site, and wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger again over there for some of these.

Great review. What is the devil site that is spoken of so often on here?

Great review, thanks. Bought some Gurkha Regent Torpedos from a CI special. I really like them now, but will let some rest and see how much they change.

Great review. You have persuaded me to keep my legends in the humi a while longer.

Great review. I have a Gurkha regent Torp in the humi. It'll be my first ever Gurkha, just waiting for the right time to torch it.

If it's anything like the one I had yesterday (and I see no reason why it wouldn't be), yer gonna like it.

This is one of the finest Gurkha has to offer, and well worth the cbid prices.
I like me Gurkha's....
