Graycliff Chateau Gran Cru - Presidente Review

Length.......... 6
Ring............. 48

I read that the Chateau line is made with their estate tobacco so that they can control their blends better.

Aspecto:
Beautiful looking gar with a medium brown wrapper, looks just like candy.

El Comenzar:
Very nice. Excellent draw that began to burn a bit uneven then leveled itself out very nicely.

Gusto:
This cigar is supposed to be a bit less spicy than the other gars made by Graycliff. Since is the first one I have had I can't compare but it was a nice medium body taste. It was hard to dissect all the tastes but I did get as forerunner some leather ad well as earthy nutty undertones. Yum.

Adición:
I was a little worried about this one because I had been reading where a number of other BOTL's did not think highly of Graycliff's product and thought it was a mediocre gar at best. My opinion is that it is one of the best smokes I have had yet to date. A gorgeous presentation, great initial draw, had no problems with it, delicious taste ( I wish I had a nice Oban with it), nice thick smoke, a sturdy ash construction, and just an all around pleasure.

This has been moved into my top 3 favorites. Interestingly the last two gars I have smoked previous were Gurkha Special-Edition Centurian Double-X Perfecto. The refinement of this Graycliff made those look like unruly school kids .....

I've got 4 more Chateaus and a handful of other Graycliffs resting, man I'm looking forward to them now!

They sound delicious. I have not had one of them yet, and when I do, I will have something to look forward to. Thanks for the review.

Dave was kind enough to hook me up with a few too!

I smoked a Grand Chu on the 4th of July and thought it was a pretty good cigar, even with its youth. That being said, I find the Expressos to be the best of the Graycliffs by far.

Re: Graycliff Chateau Gran Cru - Presidente

Ive been eyeballing the Graycliffs too, but the price has kept them out of my hands (for now...). They are very popular at the B&M's around here, and one guy I know just left to tour the factory as part of a vacation. I will be keeping my eyes open for a "cheap" box that can be aged for a year or so. Thanks for the review!

I happen to love Graycliff's. I have to admit they come with a price, but they also come with a bit of complexity in a cigar that you don't often find. They are not a one dimensional type of cigar with only one taste the whole way through. The fun for me is in how they change as you smoke them.

I agree with you Bob, I have found the Expresso to be one of the most complex NC cigars...but I know a lot of FOGs disagree with me and find them one-dimensional. It is as if we were smoking different cigars. But I like 'em.
