Thumbs up Montecristo Platinum Mini Belicoso Review

Figured I haven't done a review on CS yet, so here goes. This is only the second review I’ve done in my life, but figured if I didn’t do a second, I wouldn’t do a third, fourth, etc.

Cigar – Montecristo Platinum Mini Belicoso
Size – 5” x 52
Cost - $5.80

I bought a 5 pack of this cigar off cbid about a month ago for $29. I kept them in their pretty little tubes and every time I open my humi they say “Try me!”. Being a nice night, I thought I would give it a go!

Setting - I smoked it on my back deck with my Newfoundland (and best herfing buddy), Maverick.

Presmoke – Medium colored wrapper with no apparent issues. Prelight draw was just right, and I could tell the cigar would draw well. Pretty strong cedar smell, but it was wrapped in cedar, so it was expected.

Construction - Perfect draw and a perfect burn. I took my time lighting it and it paid off. Not a single touch up needed.

Flavor – For the first half of the cigar, I found it to be medium in strength, but still very smooth. I find it difficult to pinpoint the flavors I taste, but leathery comes to mind (of course I’ve read plenty of reviews using that “term”, so maybe that’s why it comes to mind!) Towards the second half (especially towards the nub) the strength picked up and tasted some peppery flavor (another popular “term”!) Never got acrid to the point I thought of purging it (I try not to purge if I can help it).

Overall – The perfect draw and perfect burn really allowed me to enjoy the cigar. Excellent construction. The amount of smoke was abundant and I found the flavor enjoyable. It was definitely worth the price I paid, and I would buy again.

Rating – 88/100 (hope I left enough room for future ratings ).

Forgot to note the smoke time, but I would estimate around 1 1/4 hours.

Joel

Re: Montecristo Platinum Mini Belicoso

Thanks for review Joel. I need to try the Mini Belicoso. For a quick smoke I find the Platinim Petit #2 Torpedo (4 x 45) is very good.

Re: Montecristo Platinum Mini Belicoso

Platinums are good smokes. My experience with the Mini is the same as this review.
